HI, i Have internet cafe , and i have two Q please : 1- i need a way to disable downloading *. exe files. 2- is there a way to disable deleting the desktop Icons. ( Power User Account). Thank you.

Increasing the pagefile size causes stop error in dmio.sys

Can anyone explain strange stop error I am reciving? Whenever I try to increase the size of my pagefile I recive a 0xC24 stop error in dmio. sys. The only way I can increase the page file without generatng this error is in safe mode.

USB modem disconnection problem

I have a USB ISDN modem (Hayes Accura), which I want to use with my laptop pc. Whenever I unplug the modem from the pc I get the famous blue screen, and I have to reboot the pc! I have downloaded the latest driver from Hayes, but it makes no difference.

So do you all think this will be successful? I think when it finally gets ported to windows I will use it. You have a guarantee of quality and of download speed plus the ability to preview. I don't download all that much anymore but I think I will use it when I do.

Has anybody tried this with RTM Win2k3? I remember that you could change XP Pro to Whister Server but it had a bad memory leak. I don't have a copy of 2003 to play with, but I assume anything that NTSwitch changes still works.

Arrghhh. . . I was using bullet proof FTP. . . was working fine, except NO ONE could (even me, with full access with FTP account) write / delete / overwrite / modify files. anywhere. . . So I switched to Serv-U 4.

Thief movies failure

When I'm installing Thief (Sold-out version), the movies won't load and install. I get a message 'Cannot install movie success. avi' but it won't install any other cimenatics either, except the death-scene.

I had another thread that was tied into this question, but at the time I thought it was another issue. The drive was NTFS and I changed it back to FAT32. Now I'm running into the same problem, but the drive was Fat32 already.

Yet another Nero Question

Actually two questions. 1) Nero detects my Lite-On 52x24x52 as having a max write speed of 40x. I have burned at 52x before. Anyone know why? 2) I have used Nero to find the max speed of my cdr media but I can no longer find where this option is.

When i play a movie in Windows Media player 9. 0 and change mode to fullscreen (ctrl-enter) (that is NOT full-mode), i used to with Windows Media player 8. 0 have controls here. There must be a setting or something because my friend who got wmp9.

There is a 10 - 15 second hang whenever i try to run an application in vs. net 2k2 on win2k3. debug or release doesnt matter. start without debugging does the same thing. If i run it again it gets faster.

OK, i'd like to know (just curiosity) if the Splinter Cell's engine (or all of the Game's engines) uses a different refresh rate that the one i have selected on the displays properties. I've actually selected a 1024X768 Res.
