install programs problem

Hello, A friend of mine has an issue with the computer at her house. She is running windows xp professional and its the only computer at her house. She wanted to be able to change the system time, and install/remove any program on her system.

Not that it only wouldn't work. It won't even install. I don't know what to do. The install shield just aborts before the installation has even begun. Strange, isn't it?.

Group Policy Editor problem (Windows 2003)

Whenever I use gpedit. msc to view the listings, it only shows one thing, and that is under Local Computer Policy -> Computer Config > Admin Templates > all i see is just one folder: windows components.

Virtual PC 5.2, throttle CPU how?

I was reading form the release notes on VPC 5. x that i can specify the Mhz of the emulated CPU thereby slowing it down. i am using VPC to play magic the gathering on a win98 guest, and its playing too fast, the little dude runs way to fast.

need help with installing games

can anyone help me. I run in windows xp and when i try to install some games they let me click on install and then do nothing until i start to shut down. they start installing when it starts to shut down and can finish because the computer is turning off.

I'm on dial-up and usually connect at around 28. 8. A lot of times when I try to download a page that has a lot of images it appears as though IE tries to download all the images at once and can't so it gives up and I end up with a bunch of broken images.

Disable reading HTML email in Outlook. (Converts to txt)

outlook allows you o specify whether to send in RTF, txt, or HTML. It does not however allow you to disable reading in html hen it is sent that way. Here is how to have it automagically convert the HTML email you receive into txt format before you read it.

IE 6.0 w/SP1 won't boot on WinXP

IE was working fine, then one day it wouldn't boot. When you left-click on the icon for IE, the hourglass pops-up for a couple of seconds then dies. No link inside of an e-mail will take me the Internet either.

Graphics API

Hey guys, it's me again. I'm also looking for a good Graphics API mainly for graphs and stuff. Basically 2d should be fine, with speed and prints out to the screen rather than to a jpg, gif, etc. Disregarding OpenGL, DirectX, GPI, and wxWindows.

ICQ/AIM.. Firewall?

Just been having some trouble with ICQ and AIM. When I connect to ICQ I frequently get disconnected and it takes a while to reconnect. Sometimes it doesn't even reconnect at all. This is mostly the problem with ICQ.

Open Resources in NT 4.0 server is incorrect

This morning the Open Resources (files in use) on our server (NT 4. 0)showed one user with about 50 open files from the server shared directory. This was preventing others from editing the files. In reality, he didn't have ANY of these files open on his system.

Delete application service

I want to delete the GhostStartService in the admin screen. I am using winxp. I delete the whole folder of Norton Ghost by mistake and cannot reinstall the application. Tried to ghost my hd to an image but the ghost boot floppy gave me an error.

XP Prefetch problem

I used a program a few weeks ago to clean the prefetch folder and ever since it's been empty? some things have seemed slower or slower to load when windows restarts, like Nav and NPF. In the registry enableprefetcher is set at 3 for both, I've got no more idea's.
