Monitor goes dark then returns, mouse cursor freezes afterwa

This isn't going to be easy to describe, but here goes; I believe it is a thermal problem with the video card, but I'm not sure. After the box has been on for 30-60 minutes (or so) the monitor goes dark for a second then returns.

Sharing dialup modem over LAN

Hello everyone I have 2 computers sharing a broadband connection through a Linksys 4 port Router. Computer #1 has a dialup modem installed that I use for sending faxes. I would also like to use computer #2 to send faxes and use the dialup modem in Computer #1 to send them.

problem with Windows XP SP1 roaming profile requirements

When installing the Windows XP Service Pack 1, we lost the ability to use our roaming profile. A search on the knowledge base revealed that SP1 now requires the ownership of the directory pointed by the User Profile field.

I have just updated from NT4 to Win 2000 Pro. I then followed the advice in the FAQ below. This appears to have had no effect (unless I'm missing something!) When I right-click on a shortcut, and select properties; I get the normal tabs - General, Shortcut and Security.

Terminal server, can't see who is on????

Hi, running 2000 server with terminal services in remote admin mode. This mode only gives our it staff 3 logins, 2 terminal over the web using tsac, and 1 console. When I'm logged in over the web connection I can open the terminal services manager to see the other logged in user on the web.

Hey Evrabuddy, (possibly stupid question) I just was wondering if It was safe to reformat with a cable modem? If I reinstall the software (Comcast) for the service, will I get the same downstream and upstream? I went from 56k to cable a lil while ago and still have (unfound) tweaks that are for a 56k modem.

Domains without 'www' preceeding them don't work??

Hi I'm not sure why but on Win XP, domains without the preceeding 'www', eg. hotmail. com don't work. I have to type them in full: If I don't type it in a full, I get a pop-up box asking for my username/password and no matter what I type in it gives me a HTTP 500 Internal Server Error: The page cannot be displayed.

Network / Internet Problem - Easy Solution?

Every morning that I come in to work. . . our internet doesn't work. We have a cable connection. . . munning to a symantec vpn 100 router, then from the router into a 16 port linksys switch. If I unplug the modem for 5 - 10 seconds then rewtry, everything is fine.

I feel kinda silly asking THIS in THIS forum, since i don't use Win9x based systems, but whatever, just for general culture, what's the limit of pc's that i can connect to a workgroup based on win98?, and i mean without a dedicated server or any NT OS; just a group of pc's connected to a HUB or a Switch.
