XP Pro workstation thinks it has two computer names in logon

When I set up a new computer at work, usually I have to add its computer name into the server to register it onto the domain (Red Hat 7. 3 server). This works fine. The computer I'm having problems with was originally on the network, but I need to change the computer name to reflect its room change.

At one of the offices I take care of there are 2 XP machines, 1 W2K machine and 6 or so 9. x machines. The NT5. 0 machine is the server, so to speak. Whenever I map a drive from one of the XP machines to the 2000 machine XP doesn't remember the login and always puts a red X on the network drive until I click on it ...

nothing especially wrong, but these are things i would like to know about please (Win2k SP3) 1 is there any way to protect the reg settings for speakers? some games like to reset them to stereo instead of surround 2 my PC has a tendany to alt-tab progs by itself, the longer its left on the worse it gets.

Starcraft crashing in XP

Hey everyone. Whenever I play Starcraft online the game crashes during intense battles. The BSOD I get says that the file that crashes is QSoftAudio. sys. So that seems to be audio related. I have a Philips SonicEdge 605 sound card.

Here is my situation. I have two harddrives right now on my computer. Both Fat32. C: has win98 SE installed and d: has Win2k installed. I am going to purchase a new harddrive on Friday. 40 Gig. I have a BE6 board so I am going to put the 40 gig drive on the HPT 366 controller to used UDMA-66.

Do all Radeon 9_00 cards connect to a PS's power supply?

I'm looking to upgrade my video card, if possible frugally at <$150 USD. While my research has had me looking at the 9000 series Radeon cards, I stumbled across that the 9500 must connect directly to my PC's power supply, and that the power supply must be at least 300W.

there are 4 cd's that have to beinstalled and in the middle of the second or third or last one i get the msg wron volume in my cd drive, and its telling to put the first cd, but i have already installed the first cd, i tryed that 2 times and the whole setup crashes on me.

Mouse is acting strange

This is really weird. Most of the time im on the computer after a while my mouse (Intellimouse Explorer 3. 0) just shuts off on me! Then 3-4 seconds later it comes back on, sometimes it wont even come back.

Playing DVD's on TV?

I have a Creative DVD Rom, the EncoreDxr3 that goes with it and an SBlive value sound card. I have been playing movies on my projection TV. The picture and sound quality has been wonderful. I've read out on the net that the Hercules Fortissimo could play the DVD's in Dolby Digital.

How to delete unused pagefile.sys?

Hi. . I have 2 hard drives in my system and I assigned the pagefile to my second hard drive. When I ran Perfect Disk it reported that the pagefile. sys in my first hard drive is still there and is very fragmented.

Hi I have an intell pentium 400 mhz with 256 mb of ram in the past i have had windows XP running on it when i recently came to install xp OR 2000 on it it crashes when the blue installation screen apprars in the xp/2000 setup any ideas why?? , i would really like to have xp or 2000 on my laptop
