Installing an OS without a CD Rom drive

Hi i have got this really old 166Mhz computer and i need to reinstall windows 98 into it, however it does not have a CD rom drive, but it does exist on a network, i am wondering how am i supposed to do a network install, any help would be useful.

Seems when some of my mice age, they sometimes develop this habit. Problem is, this time, I've got a nice mouse, so I really don't want to replace it. It was doing it for a while and then not, then just as I was thinking it was a thing of the past, it's doing it again.

AHH Disk Cleanup!

Hello, I have a slight problem. Whenever I run Disk Cleanup I get a prompt saying that its calculating how much space it would free if it compressed older files. Its getting to the point where it takes 5-10 mins just to even get into the disk cleanup.

fx go5200... big problem with textures and framerate

I've got a toshiba p20, pIV 3. 00 (800 MHz bus), 512 DDR and fx go5200. When runnung 3dmark2001, some frames are dropped, the dragon dissapears on the dragotic hight quality test, and gives a very poor framerate.

Problems with cpu tests in 3dmark03

Just got a new comp. So far everything went good. q3, 3dmark2001SE, sisoft sandra. . . The problem occurs when running cpu-tests in 3dmark03. Sometimes the screen just goes blank and you can hear the (error) sound.

Favorites icon not showing right in start menu

Ok, let me try and explain this. I have my favorites icon showing up on my start menu, but instead of showing as a Star it just shows up as a folder. It doesnt hinder anything, i just want it to show as a star for asthetics purposes.

OK. I am looking for a program that will trottle the bandwidth for one IP on my network. Here is my setup: W2K server running Winroute as a gateway connected to a switch. I only have a 256/128 cable connection and I have one user that is sucking up all of the bandwidth.

So my WIFI internet went down the other day, so I had to install a modem as a backup for access. But I did NOT want to shutdown. I had million webpages open and other projects open etc. So I figured, Ill hibernate the PC and install the modem and see what happens.

Problem Splitting .AVI files

I want to be able to slipt up large. AVI files. I have tried programs such as boilsoft's avi & mpeg slitter, and Doeasier's Easy video splitter. Both programs wont work for. avi files as they say they will.

Hi Gang, Has anyone else noticed that Win2K Sp4 isn't up the ammount of disk space free immediately or sometimes at all? I'll permanently delete (skipping the recycle bin entirely) a 700Meg file and it'll still read 135MB free.

OK. . . this is a problem that a friend of mine has been having for a while now and I don't know how to fix it. . . He had a power outage last week. Everything went off and back on just like that. The monitor wasn't recieving a signal from the box at all.

Hello all, Got a little problem. I download a trial win2003 server from MS. After installation the system reboot to a black screen, and keyboard does not work. I tried reinstalling serveral times and on 2 seperate computers and it's the same thing.

General VPN Question...

When a vpn is setup correctly, are you able to see the workgroup under network places? Or do you just connect to it's IP ( ) and map the drive that way? Is there any options that a VPN supports that I should be using optimise the connection?

Anyone else have this or a similar problem? I have an Epox 8RDA+ and no matter what I do, I can't get both DMA and full read/write speeds from the Plextor drive. The drive itself is fine, as it works/worked in an older motherboard (Abit KT7a).
