might and magic VIII install shield problems

wen i go to install m +m 8 on my home comp with xp, install shield comes up and it goes to 99%, ten a cross comes up and it terminates. i try another comp wit xp and it works beautifully. how do i fix it?.

I had this problem for a long time. An error occurred during the installation of the device Access is denied When installing my Leadtek Winfast TV 2000 XP deluxe. I had it installed before and had it working, one day I decided to upgrade the drivers, ever since then I get the same error even if I used the old drivers.

every 10 or so mins i have 2 or more explorer. exe running. i have to taskmanager the extra ones to get windows to open. and 5-10 mins later i will jhave 1-4 running. and is there a way to keep only one running.

Ok. . for aawhile now. . i have had the odd problem installing some games. Usually i can work around them by installing from another drive or exploring and clicking on the install option. but vice city has me stumped.

anyone able to walk me through the procedures to get WC4 Dos working on Win XP (home)? i downloaded VDMSound, but the installation seems to hang and lock up when it gets to identifying the soundcard and controller identification.

I am still getting that WORK_THREAD_RETURNED_AT_BAD_IRQL error and it's happening every few minutes it seems now. I had it do it again while my desktop was loading. SO. . . if I can't find the problem via debugging, I will troubleshoot services and device drivers.

when I install the proper driver the PC autoshutdown and on restart it always crash. . . I notice the problem under Win2K and win XP, i think it's some sort of hardware incompatibility. . . some hints?.

I'm not sure this is the forum to post this on, but it may be related to security. Recently I've noticed a dialog box that pops up. The text in the title bar is Internet Explorer, and in the box is the text Your system may be infected by a virus! Click Ok to scan and clean along with the usual Ok and Cancel buttons.

Here's the scoop. 2 nt 4 machines, pdc and bdc. A windows 2000 member file server. \\2k\data\SMITH The data folder has share permission of everyone full control, and ntfs permission of the SMITH directory has full control for SMITH and domain admins.

Power Strip erases custom profiles when 'new' hw detected

I've come across a really annoying power strip 'bug' or feature. . . whatever! When the program dectects a change in my gfx hardware set up it will reconfigure itself for the new hardware. . . but in doing so erase all my previous custom colour/display/performance profiles.

What is the point of multi-channel sound?

Ok maybe 3D sound effects, and bombardment of sound around you. But when playing games, the 4 speaker system I have. . . sucks compared to a 2 speaker setup. I tried using some old mono RCA jack speakers from an old stereo, it has lots of wattage, but the sound was just better than my 4 speaker setup.
