Hi all, i have a realy wired problem: I installed the SP1 and Norton AV on a PC with WinXP Prior to the SP1 installation the internet connection was fine, but I hade some other minor troubles. After the installation, the PC worked realy well except the internet connection doesn't work.

3D Game PC???

I don't create videos, and I don't watch DVD's on my PC (thats why I have home theater). So what I need to figure out is which would be the best setup for a 3D gaming PC that will last awhile. Looking at Tom's hardware guide, the results are kind of confusing.

Safe mode hangs in 2k

Running 2k w/sp4 I can't boot into safe mode. It hangs at the splash screen with the black screen and the 4 safe mode's in the corners. Regular boots are fine! Sounds backwards to me. Suppose to hang on a normal boot! Ideas?.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I visited this site. I hope this topic doesn't start a flame war. After finally getting a DVD burner and doing some encoding, it was a painful experience which tells me it's about time for an upgrade.

Man, I *hate* when something minor happens and I can't figure it out. But, thank goodness for the NTCOMPATIBLE forums. I was downloading, using IE and I *know* I clicked something by mistake (happy left-finger clicker).

Unlock workstation without closing session

For WinNT, Win2000, and WinXP, when a workstation is locked, nobody but the person who locked that station (not even an admin) can unlock the station. When an administator tries to unlock the station, the session will close immediately shutting down all the applications that are currently running on the system.

A new forum upgrade is coming. I replace phpBB shortly with my own message board application. Here two screenshots: The new forum is fully integrated in the main site and have some new features like the possibility to mark a post as answer.

Hi Guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with a VPN tunnel and I'm totally stumped. I have a VPN going from a Draytek router to a Sonic firewall on two seperate remote sites, connectioning to a head office.

Registry problems??

2k_freak!

I terminated an installation a a program but after terminating it my com would not boot normally it will only boot normally if i choose the directory services repair mode. In normal booting it will hang after the applying personal settings thing.

Hi everyone, a couple of hours ago, I installed a demo and I was happily playing, when my pc froze (see my sig for specs). Ctrl-alt-del wouldn't work, so I shut it down by keeping the power button pressed.

Domain Accounts Corrupting

Windows 2000 AD domain. 2000 and XP Clients. Standard Primary DNS Zone recently reinstalled after replication issue with single level Domain and registry fix of our DC's. Client Machines not finding Domain account when logging users in.

WEP setup in WinXP networking

I configured a WEP key on my router. My 2 computers running WinXP (pre-SP1 plus all updates that don't have SP1 as a pre-req) have no problem connecting. But the computer that is running all the latest updates (SP1 + the rollup fixes, plus all other critical updates, etc), cannot connect.

Would changing ATI cards require driver reinstall?

I have a Sapphire ATI 9100 (8500LE) card that I will be replacing with a PowerColor ATI 9600Pro. Do I have to do the whole nine yards of a uninstall and reinstall when I switch these cards using the same driver package? Running 2k w/sp4.
