Direct Sound problem

Now i have this problem with my sound ther is NO SOUND!! i ran a test in dxdiag on Direct sound and it failed at step 3 with a (. . . . . . . . , used by another caller?).

is it possible to put in the harddrive and then let win2k redetect all the hardware? Also, if i can do that, is there a way to wipe out the old config right before the switch to keep things clean? i really don't feel like spending 2 days reinstalling everything.

Question, I leave our NT server not logged in to prevent unauthorised access. But I would like to automate it logging in each evening at 12am as the backup user and running ntbackup to backup the entire drive, then logging out.

OK I give up, How do we make these puppies work in XP, DOTT bails at intro screen, Sam N Max has no sound, & surprise surprise Lucas arts are cheeky gits. WinXP Home: Temp Account Issues

For some reason, when we turn our WinXP machine on here at work, it won't reconnect to 2 mapped drives and a networked printer, but only when we log in under the TEMP account. Is there an issue with naming an account temp? The other accounts work fine.

I have read where the installation of MS04-011 can cause issues with slow logons and that imcide. sys, along with a Nortel and DLT tape driver, could be the culprit. I have searched all over trying to find out what this driver is for and all I can find are articles relating to the patch.

OK I used Ghost to copy XP and my data from a 40 gig to a 180 gig harddrive. XP is an upgrade version, so I think that may be the cause of my problem with the new hardware, but I thought it would at least tell me something is wrong.

I can boot to an ERD 2003 CD and run symantec virus removal tools and it finds MyDoom, but it won't write a log to tell me which file is infected that it refused ...

I'm trying to play Master of Orion 2 on Windows XP but after playing for a while most of the graphics go black. Even if I save and restart the game it still goes black. I've read other posts about this problem on other OS's but I've never seen a solution.
