XP Pro Bootup!

I've just picked up my mother-in-law's desktop, at her request to fix it. On boot-up a blue screen appears with the message:autochk file not found and the computer reboots to this same message continually! Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone an expert on Norton Personal Firewall?

Are there any Norton firewall experts out there who can tell me why I'm unable to stealth-block a persistent Trojan scanner? OS is Win2K SP3. The firewall app is Norton Personal Firewall, part of Norton Internet Security.

Hello all! I look in the hardware section of this forum and find 2 reviews; one saying everything works fine with the Intel DK440LX mobo and Win2k. The other one says exactly what I am experiencing; lock ups after ~5 minutes.

Iv been given a copy of xp pro from a friends company, and its fully sealed and never been used, the wrapping its in is not open at all. The only thing with it is that it does not have a product key with it.

my thoughts of minimum for autocad workstation: cpu: p4 2. 2ghz ram: 512mb pc2700 ddr mboard: i845e video: FIRE GL Z1 or NVIDIA Quadro4 XGL ? hdd: 60gig ata-133 or scsi ? monitor 19inch something else ? tell me if it's right or wrong and which spec is better/cheaper in your opinion.

Does anyone now how to to this ? I has put my mixer. exe in the quick launch bar (next to time)by putting the exe file in the start-up folder of start/programs. But for the moment mixer starts full up every time I start Windows, I only wanted the icon to be in the quick launch and not to start up.

Pare Down the OS

Does anyone know of a way to pare down the W2K OS? We build machines that are part of a SCADA solution and we just don't need all the drivers, multimedia, etc. stuff that comes with the standard install of W2K.

Hi Guys, I am having problems with nView. I have set it up with a TV in Clone Mode. I have also set Full screen device as Secondary device which is TV. Now when I play a movie, the TV does become Fullscreen but the video is in the middle of it.

Restart problem

Hey guys, I seem to have a restarting problem. Whenever I tell the computer to restart the computer the process seems fine. It gets to the Window saying Windows is shutting down. Then the box disappears and that's it.

Outlook 2000 stays running after I shut it down

When I run outlook I usually just load it up, check my email and if there is none to be had, I promptly shut it down. Up until yesterday this hasn't been a problem, but last night I had reason to CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to bring up the Task Manager and I found that I had like 9 OUTLOOK.
