XP moved from one system to another fails to start

My old Compaq UWAVE motherboard failed and I moved the harddisk (Maxtor) to a ASUS P2B-DS(dual processor) motherboard. The harddisk is IDE and was booting up XP. Problem1: Autodetect works and reports the right hard disk capacity but wrong cylinders etc.

I have just added 2 new XP clients to our winnt4 domain server (with both winnt4 and win2000 servers on network). All previous clients are win2000. The 2 new XP clients seem to take 15-20 seconds when accessing mapped drives (to winnt4 and win2000 server drives) for the first time after logon.

I'm considering upgrading the video card in my system to one of the GeForce 4 (probably the 4200) cards. Are there any driver related issues with WinXP (or other off the shelf applic's) and Nvidia?.

I usually run a backup of my sistem and dump it onto one of my backup drives. I've been using microsofts built in backup program. Anyways, I've recently loss some files which are in this backup file.

I have a computer which is 3 years old wiht Win98. I reciently upgraded to Win XP. With this upgrade I found my modem did not work nor did my CD drives. I replaced the modem with a mew one, and it works now.

Windows 2000 sp4 hangs on restart

Just did a clean install of Win 2000 and it worked fine. Put in SP4 and now when you restart the server it hangs on bootup and just has a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner. A manual shut down boots into windows fine.

I'm fairly familiar with setting up a network with 5 - 10 computers. I am planning on setting up around 20 client computers (Windows XP Pro) with a Windows 2003 Server. I need to build the network in a way that we will be able to easily expand it in the future.

CHKDSK runs every bootup...already tried the common fix, no help

Hi, After burning a DVD recently, my XP machine slowed to a crawl. . . on reboot, got a blue screen and had to power down. Rebooting ran CHKDSK and had numerous error windows popping up. Ok'ed out of all and rebooted into last known good.

How to PERMANENTLY prevent System Restore on USB / External drives???

This problem is driving me nuts. I have a 128MB USB thumbdrive (Soyo Cigar Pro2, shows up as Prolific USB drive in devmgr). Windows XP Home decides to infect it with a system restore folder set to use 93% of the drive space whenever I connect it.
