No Sound after reinstall of XP Pro

I had to do a complete re-installation of XP Pro on my Mom's computer. All went well with the install, except now I have no sound. When I go to Sound and Audio device properties all areas of Volume are greyed out so they cannot be adjusted.

Athlon XP 3200+ vs Athlon 64 3200+

I am going to be building a system soon. Has anyone seen any real benchmark numbers compairing these two procs. If they both are 3200+ processors, then in theory they should post similar numbers. With the 3200+ XP all i would have to do is drop it in a mobo i already am using.

Hi Can someone help please! The mouse on my computer keeps going out of control. It mainly opens up the start menu, firewall and anything in the bottom panel. I have Norton virus 2002(updated), ad-aware se personnal,spybot,ewido all running.

Twisted Metal 2 under 2000

does anybody know any way of getting twisted metal 2 to work on windows 2000. when starting up. . . it just goes black and stays like that. you just press esc and it goes back to the desktop. i have downloaded Service Pack 3 and enabled the compatibility layer thingy to no apparent effect.

i am trying to copy a game when i copy it using a programe it stops all of a sudden saying ur disk needs clenaing when it doesnt so i copy the files from disk to blank disk didnt work help me or would a cd clone help if so give me some links only freeware ones though

Hey People; I Bought a USB Hub 4 Port Non Powered (USB1. 1) and i have a P3B-F mother board with WinXP. USB Works without the HUB but when the HUB is connected its detected as a Generic HUB and it tells me nothing is connected to it.

What programs etc do you guys use to test out laptops and to make sure all is functioning etc. The laptop that is coming is a Sony Vaio PCG-FR130 AthlonXP 2000+ 512 megs pc2100 GF4 420 16 meg 40 gig HD CDRW/DVD 14 XGA etc etc.

Does anybody know how can I format my HD so that nothing at all stays on it? I am trying to get rid of a virus that doesn't go away with any antivirus, not even after I formatted and reinstalled XP. Please help.

Help I am a newbie to computers and games and bought from ebay from a German guy Sims 2 it arrived from Thailand today. I have no idea how to play it in English and apparently it can. I was surprised to find a My Disc CD included in the package the accompaning letter was in German so I do not know what is happenning.

XP stops responding when saving a picture

Help! When I try to save a picture in a browser (IE6 or ybrowser or Firefox or Mozilla 7. 2) the save dialog box 'greys-out' and the application enters a 'not repsonding' state. I have to end the task in Windows Task manager.

Let me explain. . . it is a whole lot of 'DOHs' (screwups and problems), that is the real reason for the pluralization claims the new CEO of Microslop. It is rumoured that Homer fell in love with windohs when a hacker popped open his cd tray, which he immediately used for a beer holder.

I have more or less accepted this problem as just being an error with the board but recently a thread I read reminded me of it. I own a Abit Be6 II revision 1. 2 motherboard. The boot from cd function has never actually worked.

Hey guys. It's been a while. I have a question that I was hoping you could answer for me. My machine no longer shuts off from windows or linux. It just reboots. I have made no hardware changes so I don't think that I would have knocked any cables loose but I have verified the internals as well.
