For reasons I won't get into, in the past I have had hard disks on my home PC set up as logical drives C: thru I:. That eventually got down to C: thru F:. I recently had to do a full-install, new hard disk, WinXP Home install.

Hi guys, you seem to know a lot more than I do about XP. My problem is this. A few weeks ago, I tried to install a PS1 emu, and I didn't do it right (obviously) and my taskmanager popped up about 40 times, and my computer locked up.

when i try to start ff7 i first get a black screen then if i push esc i get to the main screen bu i cant move the cursor it only stays on the continue i have installed all the patches (xp patch) but it still doesn't work.

I'm planning to migrate to a NT DNS server for simplicity reasons, and it is apparently configured properly, yet it is really flaky. I will try to go to certain sites, and it doesn't work, and then I try again and it works, and some sites, like mapquest.

I'm putting together my first puter, the old dell 550 has been a warrior but it is time to upgrade. I'm using a Soltek motherboard (VIA K8T900/SL-K8AV2-RL) with an AMD 64 3000+ CPU. 1 GIG o RAM, 80 gig SATA Maxtor hd (YY080MO), and a Radeon Pro 9600 Pro.

Right now I am testing Windows 98 SE on a machine that has proven to be rather problematic since I got it. The Video card and onboard LAN insist on sharing IRQs,and this leads to a problem in wich the monitor goes blank for a moment, it does this a few times and then the entire computer locks up.

Hello there!!!! Initially I had only windows 98 on my system. One day I tried to install windows ME while 98 still existed, i. e. two seperate OS. But to my disappointment I could'nt succeed. I ended up with only ME on my system.

Hi I have a problem , with win xp pro. i had a virus w32 funner , removed this using pandasoft. it then asked me to restart. After this everything runs fine until i log on, the background screen comes up but No Icons or Desktop appear.

I have built a few PC'S, but am new to SATA. My question is this. If I install (2) new 120 gig SATA DRIVES configured for Level 0 (performance), CAN I BOOT FROM THE DISKS, or do I have to boot from another hard disk besides my SATA disks?.

I'm running XP service patch 1 and I loaded an older program that ran fine on 2000. Now when I go to run it, it runs Direct Player 6. 0 but a message saying This program needs at least 3MB of virtual memory to run.
