USB storage device "not formatted error"

My laptop is on WIndows XP SP3. . . . recently, i've windows updated my laptop and after restart, whenever i tried to open any usb storage device (pendrive and external hard disk), it state the disk in drive not formatted.

why does my network run slow?

I have 2 computers with one internet (dsl) connection, when i just run one computer it runs very fast, but when i run them together using my wireless netgear router they both run EXTREMELY slow, sometimes worse than dial up (especially when we play games in yahoo).

Usb 2.0 devices not recognized...

I have a slightly older pc (motherboard is about 5 years old) Until 3 months ago, both the 2. 0 and 1. 1 USB ports were working fine. I do not know what exactly happened, but, now, the only way it will recognize anything plugged into the 2.

I am not asking how to turn this off; I have a deeper question. If I did not install any software and I am not connected to the internet (thus no automatic program in installations are possible) why should I keep getting this balloon notification? I rarely do I connect to Internet.

IE8--Gif's problem

Hey all, it's been awhile. The problem I'm having is I finally decided to update to IE 8 incase my Firefox went down for some reason. Now IE 8 claims that only it can show gif files for me. I've tried using my normal viewing program, Vue Print Pro32 and it won't show gif's anymore.

Nocturne won't run in XP

I just got this game, even though it was released in 99 I think. It installs fine and then when I double click the icon to play, it just acts like its going to start, then it flashes a black screen real quick and goes back to the desktop as if nothing has happened.
