Paralell port ATA - HDD

I have a external drive connection , wich until recently housed a CD-ROM. I have since replaceced the CD-ROM with a 6. 4 Gig HDD - But the drivers for the drive connection is for a CD-ROM not a ATA compliant HDD.

My PC suddenly crashed earlier today, everything just froze and the PC would not respond. First time this has ever happened to me in Windows 2000. Anyway, I pressed the reset button and rebooted, but now my harddrive is behaving strange.

Hi All, I am going mad already! I run Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 Pro on my machine which I will list it peripherals in a few. The problem I encounter is random locks up in Windows 98SE ONLY. Windows 2000 Pro seems to be running stable as a horse.

Sidewinder and Win2K

I have both a Sidewinder Gamepad and the Sidewinder FF Wheel. When I try and install the gamepad, I do the Sidewinder autodetect, and it comes back as a Sidewinder 3D Pro. When I try and install the FF Wheel, it will install ok, but the status keeps changing from OK to NOT CONNECTED.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, why is it so difficult for Microsoft to provide a utility on both the Win 2K and ME cd that creates a basic MS DOS boot disk which will allow users to update their bios? I have my V5 w2k leaking driver installed and running flawlessly wit all 3dfx tools available uner w2k build2195, all the drivers as been update incluing the OGL to version 1. 1, Q3 and others are flawles, go here i u cannot found it.

Can anyone please help me??? I play quake2 a lot and i really want to keep my new W2K! Here is the problem! After some time playing Q2, W2K just shut down??? I don´t get any message at all. . . It just shut down! When it start up again, my ISDN modem is gone, and i have to reinstall it.

Okay odd thing. . works fine with the ultra tnt 2 the 5. 22 drivers from creative seem to work fine alone but the blaster control seems to crash the driver when I try to tweak it reinstalling the blaster control does the same thing on init for install the webcam go does the same.

20% performance hit when I enable SMP in Quake3

I seems to get about 20% performance hit on Quake 3 Arena if I enable SMP mode. Shouldn't it increase the performance instead of decreasing it? My settings are 1024x768x16 (FSAA) on Nvidia Driver 5.

I have a Diamond V770 ultra (no driver or software available from diamond) on my win2k pro machine. On previous version of the Windows OS, I found that I had to turn up contrast, brightness and alpha correction so I could see graphics correctly in OpenGL games.
