How can I get a LAN-Play with the TCP/IP Protocol under windows NT 5? I can write the host's IP into the dialogue box, but it doesn't find the server. .

win2k drivers keep reverting when updated

i'm having some trouble up drivers on my fresh installation of win2k pro. when i try to replace the standard MS signed drivers with nvidia's 5. 22 reference drivers (for a TNT2 Ultra), it appears to succeed, but when i let it reboot to install the drivers, i find it has gone back to the MS drivers again.

Does anyone else have a gigabyte 6bxd motherboard? I was just wondering what cpu's people were running in it and what it could actually take. Theres a bios update that says it supports 600mhz p3's which means that it might take any 100mhz bus based p3 but im not sure.

I know NT Compat. says the game will run with Win2k, but I am having trouble getting the game installed. Everytime I run the setup. exe on the CD, it says that it is not a valid Win32 app. WTF??? Is their anybody out there with some knowledge of how to get this game installed under Win2k?? I've tried using the APCO ...

Locks up with some games...

Got locks up with 2 games. For Deus Ex, when the EIDOS logo cinematic comes up my system suddenly freezes and I have no other choice than to reboot. For Ground Control, it freezes as soon as the menu comes up.

In case anyone was wondering: Yes, the MSI 694D Pro-A motherboard (VIA 133A Dual socket 370) runs Windows 2000 perfectly! I have performed many hours of testing Q3A, UT and Counter Strike etc with not one problem.

I love Win2k, been using it since the early days. It marked my switch to the NT kernal, and I will never go back. It is a beautiful OS. Anyways, one thing I havn't figured out is this: I am on a LAN at school and using Win9x I was easily able to share folders over the network neighborhood.

I read the compatiblity thing and saw that Ground Control apparently worked fine in Win2k, and as I wanted to buy it I went ahead. Installed it, said no to install Dx7a and tried to run it, well, it came up with an error message - and crashed in a big way and ate up memory like no-ones business, I don't get it Any ...

Anyways, when I start my computer up it is suppose to have an external cache of 512k, instead it says External Cache: 512K, Disabled. How do I enable it? I looked all over in the BIOS. Thanks. . . even though i've been an ass.

Does anyone know if there are any drivers for thrustmaster joysticks for win2k? their website is useless =) I have a topgun thrustmaster joystick which has a POV hat. Win2000 picks the default 4-button joystick, w/ POV but it doesn't let me use or configure the POV hat.

for those complaining, where's SP1?? especially that 9:35 PM in Redmond post, you can stop complaining, cause it wasn't even planned to be out on Monday, MS internal (aka. my MS friend) tells me that SP1 wasn't even 100 % planned for Monday or Tuesday, don't expect it out until mid to late this week, probably Thurs ...

Hey, on an update to my problem and the final solution, what I did was disable EXTERNAL CACHE on my Asus P5A-B motherboard using the Award BIOS version 1010 Beta 2 (although it might work with previous versions).
