Testing Programs

Looking for a good hardware testing program, something like the old PCPro, or CheckIt, perhaps. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd appreciate it much. . . .

win2k + UT problem

Running win2K on PIII 500, 256MB, intel 740i with a voodoo2. Unreal Tournament (got the latest patch) hangs sometimes and the sound just keeps repeating on loop. I set the sound quality to low, and the video settings to med.

Winroute troubles

I just recently bought a Ge-force256 based card and for my own reasons decided to give millenium a try. So formated to it and had been useing Winroute as my ICS software when i was running 2000 and it worked great.

system page file

According to Microsofts white paper on tweaking Windows 2000 if you have a second hard drives they recommend storeing your system page file on you second drive which makes Windows run faster does anybody know where this file is stored or how to do this !!!

Moving pagefile

I'm trying to move the pagefile to one of my other partitions but W2K Pro refuses to recognise there's a pagefile after moving. My setup as follow:- C - Disk 1 - Primary Partition - Win98 - 2GB - FAT32 D - Disk 1 - Logical Partition - W2K - 18GB - FAT32 E - Disk 2 - Logical Partition - 19GB - FAT32 F - Disk 2 - Log ...

F. . . WMP 7. I downloaded Sound Forge's Siren Jukebox. It does all the things WMP 7 does and more!!! It is stylish, burns disks, searches for music,it has a beautiful compact feature, a good number of skins, does digital extraction, searches for the title of cd's etc.

Cant connect to laptop. Help

I have a Wireless network running. Here is the setup: Desktop= Windows 2000 Laptop = Window ME Both the Laptop and the Desktop can see each other. The desktop can access the Laptops shared folders but when I try and access the Desktops shared folders from the Laptop I get this message \\Desktop is not accessible.

Weel, I would like to change my the default directory for profiles C:\Document and Settings\ of my Win2k Pro. I'll like to put this directory into another disk or partition by default. Can anybody helps me? Regards.

ASUS Temp reporting

I just built a computer using an ASUS CUV4X with PIII600E. In the bios the temp is reported at 70C from cold boot, and 90C after running for 20 minutes. But in Win2k, the Asus probe program lists the temp as 30C right after booting, and 40C after 20 minutes.

CD-R Media Quality

I have a relatively new HP 9110i CR Writer. When I had it working with NT I successfully created two music CDs from MP3s using Memorex 650Mbyte CD-R media (x1 write speed). Since I've upgraded to Win2K I've not been able to create any music CDs on three attempts; 1.

Practically free new Abit KA7 slot A kx133, is it worth it?

I found this mobo for sale for only £50 (about $70?) and wondered seeing as it is a slot A, not socket, and has the slightly older via kx133 chipset, is this a bargain? The reason it's so cheap is because they ( a respectible UK nationwide dealer)have lost all the cables and manual.

SCSI problems please help

This is the second time I tried to flash update my second adaptec 2940U2W SCSI card's BIOS and it failed both times and now the PC wont boot with the card in the computer. I have to take it out for the PC to boot.

WinTV USB Problems

I recently purchased the WinTV USB FM from Hauppage. Everything went fine until I tried to get the TV bit working. First, I could get some audio, then I fiddled with the drivers and now nothing works.
