January "AppUpdate" is a HOAX (?)

I went to Microsoft's Windows Update Site AND their Windows 2000 Downloads Site. There is NO January Compatability Update to be found. :-( Am I missing something here, or is this patch a F****** hoax?.

Hi, I just installed Windows 2000 and I've got a couple problems. When I start up napster I get a napster. exe - No Disk error: napster starts up, but in front of it a dialog box pops up that says There is no disk in the drive.

ok, i got an Abit Vh6, i set it to boot from the cdrom, needless to say that it won't! I tired everything, it won't even to to boot, i'm at a friend's house now because i was unsuccessful in installing it.

How can i get Twisted Mental 2 to work completly

Anyone know if Twisted Mental 2 will work fully in win2k pro. ? I can get into the part where i choose from single or two players and then choose my car but then after that when it is loading up the map i hear this nosie and the game is exit out Can anyone help ? I would just like to let you guys know that this new patch kicks a$$. Using the demo in 1. 27g, I would get 75. 4fps at 1024x768x32. Now, I get 95fps at the same settings. In addition, if I toggle the r_ext_compressed_textures cvar to 1, I go up to 106fps.

i fresh installed win2k pro (again) installed the 7. 17 detonator and DX8. . . now when i run winamp with directsound my mp3 (hack up) jump from here to there and the same goes with DIVX (dont sync) movies, just like that.

Hi, Is there a way to change the default folder icon for windows 2000. I looked in Folder option and found a file type called Folder but I cant change the icon, it is greyed out. Is there any way other than using a program.

Ok. I just re-install Windows 2000. . but noticed first later that the installation installed a new Win2k copy on e:\ instead of overwriting the c:\ copy of Win2k. How should I move the e:\ copy to c:\ and use only c:\ as Win2k directory? Hope you understand all that 🙂.

Is there anyway to tell what IRQ windows sets for each device. i am having some peformance problems. I have Me/2k dual booted. Everything runs flawless in Me, but. I have a tiger 100 and i want to use 2k to benefit from SMP.

I downloaded and installed the Via busmaster driver from to get one of my Maxtor drives to work in UDMA mode (the other already worked fine). Well, it fixed that problem, but first time I tried to create a CD with Nero, I found the new driver caused it to fail.
