We have just had a workstation delivered with an Adaptec 19160 Ultra160 card in. Little bit confused here, but can older devices like a Pioneer DVD-ROM, Yamaha CD-RW & Iomega ZIP drive be attached to a card like this? I'm assuming they are backwards compatible with non-Ultra160 devices?.

Really folks, which is the better driver for the games, and works with DX8. 0a? The 6. 62 seem to work fine, but it has been said many times that the 7. xx drivers were MADE for DX8. .

i have a bsod come up in windows sometimes, i looked in the event viewer and have seen a warning with code 51, an error was detected on device \device\cdrom1 during a paging operation. what does this mean and how can i fix it.

I recently moved from 98SE to Win2K. It's a great OS and games run fine for the most part except for a choppiness and bluriness that occurs when i strafe/move the mouse at the same time in games like Half Life/Q3.

FYI: For anybody who is using the -patchrestart argument. Using -d3d1 works a lot better. Instead of starting at the multiplayer screen making you back out, the game starts normally. .

hey i ran into some problems with virtual memory i reduced it cuz i been told that Rune editor suppose to run better. . . . lol i reduced it from 93-130 to 20-90 it worked like crap. . . so i changed it back.

I noticed that the 4. 1. 1 drivers can work with this cam and Win2k. I downloaded the drivers from this site and only have half success. After I say yes to the digital signature it fails saying: The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name.

TV Tuner card Advice needed.

Hey Guys, need some advice. I am interested in getting a TV Tuner card for my system. On Ebay I notice a lot of tuner cards by Hauppage (or something like that), connecting via a PCI slot. Does anyone have any experience with this card, and whether or not it works smoothly in Win2k? Thanks!.

I'm running Win2k 100% stable on my computer at home but when I go to a LAN-party or a friends house to play some games I get random crashes or BSODs, mostly KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED or just a reboot.

Hidden & Dangerous in W2K - WTF?

Here's the mighty problem. Hidden and Dangerous works in W2K if you run it while logged in as Administrator, but if you try to run it as anyone else, regardless of user access level, it stops, saying it can't find the CD.

When you buy memory, how do you tell if that memory will only use 1 bank? I have 4 DIMM slots on my motherboard and for DIMM 3 and 4, I have to use the memory that will use only 1 memory bank. Here is what the manual say about DIMM slots and their banks assignment: DIMM 1: Bank 0, 1 DIMM 2: Bank 2, 3 DIMM 3: Bank 4 ...

I was doin the setup of Windows 2000 install. and i came to where i could see any software that would need to be updated etc. . and there is a sectiin called Hardware acessories and in the category there said (Systray Launcher)on Start Menu) what exactly is this refering to that I can not run.
