Network user access

Rudyatek
I have a Win98 system connected via ethernet to my main Win2k system, and I'm trying to find a way to give the other computer read-only access to my system's files. I enabled sharing for all my drives, and set the permissions to read-only (denying write and full access).

No problems with 2 NICs in NT4 on a P75?

System Requirements for NT4 Server?

thomas@nordichardware.com
Hi! I'm about to set up a small server at home, with a slow comp, a Pentium 75 with about 32 MBs of RAM. I wonder what would be wisest, Win 95, NT or 98? The tasks it'll do: FTP-server (at most 2 concurrent users) Firewall Running the agent - If enough power's avaiable.

Win2k Network Browsing

pikapan
When I was running under Win98SE, browsing my friends' computers over Network Neighborhood was quick and painless. (Their computers were also all running Win98SE) However, ever since I upgraded to Win2k, it takes 20 seconds or so for a directory to load up now when I connect to their computers using Network Neighbo ...

Brian Frank
If you dont want to reinstall Win2k or any version of Windows more than you have to, DO NOT INSTALL NORTON UTILITIES!!! If you do, dont run anything other than speed disk. Thats it. Win Doctor and System Doctor will screw up things because many of the fixes involve deleting registry entries as the first and sometim ...

Mass Storage Controller

NikeShox
I just installed Windows 2000 on my computer (clean install/not a dual boot system) and the device manager is telling me that the Mass Storage Controller drivers for this device are not installed. The system seems to run fine, but it just bugs me that there is something missing.

I have recently put Win XP on my system and I have only come to realise how slow win2k is in gaming. In 3dmark 2001, I got 730marks 1024, 16bit. In Win XP, this score went to 2400marks. Likewise, in Counterstrike, win2k's framerate will only hit 60fps (refresh rate) when I look into a corner, and can drop to below ...

High Heat 2002 in Win2k

ahearnb
Hi, after talking to my high heat buddies at the message board, I have concluded that most everyone can run the game in Win2k, but not without some serious sound problems (skipping, looping, etc. ). They all had a soundblaster live card, and the latest drivers for all.
