Abit Hotrod100 pro+w2k=very slow boot

I have installed a hotrod RAID card (with HPT 370 chip). It has the latest bios and drivers. The first few times windows 2000 boots normally, but now it stops for 5-10 minutes in middle of the boot process.

There seems to be a. vbs worm that's rather wild at the moment. So far today we have received it may times from 5 different sources. The e-mail comes through with a subject along the lines of: Take a look at this great Homepage It hs the attachment of homepage.

Hello: I own (legally) both Windows 2000 and Windows Me, although I only use 2000 (he he, no surprise there!). The Movie Maker in WinMe was however, quite useful for me because of the tiny files it can create.

What i'm doing is writing a program in VB 6 that will call on the API to list the names and positions of all windows/processes running. The purpose of this is to store positions of windows that way after a change of resolution i can restore each window to it's original position.

The Sims/Livin large

I have a Dell I8000 notebook with W2K, 512MB of memory with an ATI 32MB video card. I installed the Sims Livin Large and about a halh hour into the game it sets my display to either 800x600 or 640x480 and crashes the system.

netscape problem

Every (I mean EVERY time) I try to open netscape it pops up and error message saying that netscape. exe has generated errors and is being closed by windows. It also says that an error log has been created.

Modem Problem

Win2K OK, I open up the dialup connection I want to use and hit dial. . . the box goes away and all that i see is the connection thing on the taskbar and i hear the modem noises. . . After dialing it makes some VERY abnormal connection noises then it hang-ups and freezes.

I've disabled some startup progs through MSCONFIG, but now MSCONFIG keeps starting up everytime I turn on/restart my computer. Is there some way to keep it from doing this? Thanks CrashNBurn.

IE 5.0 Right Click Delay

When I right click a link, to open in new window, i get a delay before the right click menu comes up. It's about a 2-3 second delay. It does not do this when using any other app, or right click on the desktop, etc.

Pentium 4, what motherboard is best?

Since it is seemingly becoming cheaper to buy P4's than high end P3's I am now in the market for a P4 motherboard. I don't see many out there and don't know much about them. I assume they are using Intel's 850 chipset and what advantages does it have? So any feedback would be much appreciated!.

I've been having problems with IE loading up webpages when I click on links outside of IE. For example, when I click on a hyperlink contained in a e-mail sent to me, it opens up a blank browser window instead of loading up the site.
