missing boot.ini & standby-mode

Hi there! The first problem is about my boot. ini. . . If i start Win2k it tells me, that my boot. ini is corupted. As I checked it out (with activated visiblity of the system files), I found out, that it is missing.

Question on file and printer sharing

Hello. Does NT 4. 0 sp 6a shut down file and printer sharing by defalt or do you have to do it yourself. If it must be done manually could someone tell me how to do it. (Please keep it simple im not the best with computers.

Ok i have a program that i wrote in VB 6 that saves window positions and restores them, say after a resolution change. The program runs fine in Win9x. . . but NOT in 2k Pro OR Server. if i post a link to where you can download this and maybe play with it will a few of you help me out? I'm using only standard API calls.

Unfortunately I am still a modem users. With BT's current ADSL roll-out plans, I think I should have broadband access by around the end of 2002. I bought a US Robotics Sporster Flash modem quite a while ago.

Flickering text in Counter-strike and Quake III

Has anyone else had this problem? Counter-strike is especially annoying, my cross hair, weapon selection, and radar all blinking. . . . . its a real pain. . . . Any ideas of what I can do? Any help will be greatly appreciated! -Amnesiac.

w2k+sp2 and norton speeddisk

does norton speeddisk work alright with w2k+sp2? in startup it tells that sp2 is not in certified list so anyone tried? also if anyone knows does perfectdisk work with w2k and sp2. .

W2k Sp2 Drivers

One thing I noticed is that w2k sp2 does not update the drivers that the original W2k version or sp1 installed. Is there a command that will instruct SP2 to search and installed all up to date drivers within the OS? Thanks in advance.

K, this is the problem. I am on a network at work where the internet gateway is on a Win98 box and I am on a Win2k box accessing the internet via a proxy server. I have pop/http/socks/ftp access on the 2k box, however when I go into the command prompt, or dos (in other client win98 boxes), I can't ping any IP or Do ...

Hi Guys, I would like to know if there any program from Microsoft, built into windows or office that could make tranparent gifs. I have Office 2002 and Windows 2000. I also have picture it 2000 but the transparency never work in there.

NT Voodoo 3 3000 TV out doesn't work

Ok, I have NT 4 server SP6 acting as my File server/entertainment center (It is cheaper than buying a new Entertainment Center). Does ANYONEknow of a way to get TV out to work on a Voodoo 3 3000? I see posts on 2k but I was wondering if anyone has successfully got it to work on NT 4.

Dxr3 Problem

For some reason, my Creative Dxr3 doesn't work anymore. It stopped working at some point, trying to load it up makes it show some message like This program encounters an error trying to initialize the decoder device.

Sharing my IE 'favorites' between two Network PCs

I have two computers on a network and I use a KVM switch box to alternate between them (they are physically side by side). Both have W2K, and my 'preferred' PC is where my IE favorites are kept (the other pc hardly has any IE favorites stored).
