I have Office XP and everytime I have a file open and double click a file in Explorer it opens a new word window (completely new) and not one with windows inside of it. So there are 2 listings of Microsoft Word in the taskbar when I double click on the file instead of one.

I am having this crapping problem. Every time I tried to click to play the X-wing vs. Tie figter. They always ask to install directx 5. 2. I did click to install and then click to play again and, it ask again for directx 5.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to go about shrinking the size of the. dbx files for Outlook Express by getting rid of the attachments in individual emails. I have already saved most of the attachments I want to keep but want to keep all of my inbox messages.

Why Won't my PC boot with a USB mouse installed?

Hi, I've got a Microsoft Explorer mouse and have installed the drivers for it. When I plug it into a USB slot, it works until I restart. The computer will not boot up completely and hangs before it gets to the desktop.

I have tried and tried and tried to install Win2K on my daughter's Compaq Presario 4814. ( 80MB RAM, 40GB Maxtor HD) I tried formatting the drive on that machine. . . . repartitioning it on that machine etc.

I was ready for 3dmark2001 to crash again, but IT DIDN'T this time. Also 3dmark2001 score is almost same with win9x, 3dmark2000 score is better than 9x ) and with only 128 mb ram. Else boot is faster even then before.

Adaptec 2940U SCSI controller and Hibernation troubles

Since fitting a Adaptec 2940U SCSI controller, I am having trouble with the Win2k hibernation feature. What happens is that hibernation works OK 1 time, then when I try next time, it locks at the preparing to hibernate screen.
