Opinions on GRC.com's view on XP's raw sockets?

I was wondering if any one had an opinion on Steve Gibson's idea that WinXP is gonna bring down the 'Net? I had read this guy's rant before, and thought him a complete crack-pot. But, as I was applying for a job at a friend's firm, he suggested GRC.

I everybody, that's my first post on this board, and I hope that's not the last. I installed WinXP 2502 some days ago, and I have an issue I didnt encoutered with WinXP 2486. When I tried to install EZ CD Creator 5 under 2502, the Installed said my Windows version wasnt compatible with EZ CD5.

I can't get either of them to run. The Lucas Arts console starts up, but when you click the Run button, it says I need to install DirectX 5. 0. It gives me two options: install and cancel. Install gives me a can't find the CD error, and cancel just exits back to the Lucas Arts menu.

I'm wondering about the A+ Certification as to how helpful it really is. So far, I've only talked to one computer tech, and he basically said that the course goes over older technologylike 486 stuffand is more for show than anything else.

3Com Home Connect (High End Model) and XP Rc1

Those Win2k drivers dont work properly. My logitech cam is recognized and I get all the cool winxp features but the 3Com cam is not recognized at all. It DOES however work in Netmeeting and I can whack off for my girlies across the sea all night long.

Hi! Actually I have 2 questions. One is that my opengl game does not work in HL. I have installed RC1 2505 ok, with the default drivers. But HL complains that my video card does not support opengl. I have a Geforce 1 DDR (Annihilator pro).

Asus Live on XP

I couldn't get Asus Live from 4. 4 to 4. 6 to work on Windows XP. I use Asus V3400, it simply shows a blue screen and restarts. . Could someone tell if an actual version of Asus Live can work in XP? If you have a diferent program that can do the same as Asus Live and it works on XP, you're welcome too.

NVIDIA Drivers Won't Update

This is driving me nuckin futs. Whenever I try up my NVIDIA drivers it gives me an error saying The Specified File Was Not Found. Upon first boot into XP it had it's default GeForce3 drivers installed, I updated to 12.

beta 2401 and q3!! ERRR!!!

I installed Q3 from the CD. Worked fine. When I run Q3 and try to switch to any diff video mode, it attempts it, acts like it is almost there, then back to desktop with no quake 3 and GAMMA UP THE YING YANG! What the hell? I ran a copy of q3 I had on my HD with video at 1024X760 and loaded fine.

Can you detect what is opening a port up?

I always have 3 particular ports opened and listening after I boot my pc up(I verified it through netstat and also a shareware program). Is there a program that will detect what program is listening on those ports? This is using win9x, however I'd also like to know with nt and win2k.

I've already done it, but it might help if anyone that has xp and a PhotoSmart P1xxx series printer, send HP some email asking for the drivers. They might speed up the process a bit and release drivers sooner than 1 month after Official AP Release.
