I recently bought a 19Inch monitor. . . . Compaq V90 The res on the monitor are 1280*1024 @ 85Hz 1600*1200@75 But after a re install the monitor would only work in 1280*1024@75Hz. . . . . If i try to go higher the screen only turns black.

CD drive problem - reading created cds in explorer

Hi i have just built a computer for a friend, it has got a Cyber Drive 32X 12X 48X cd writer. The problem occurs when trying to write a CD, the drive and software looks as if it is copying files to the cd and NERO says that the burn process was sucessful when finished.

Just for shits and giggles I tried to play an old DOS game the other day and it detected my soundblaster but I couldn't get any sound. I had heard that WinXP was supposed to have native SB support in the DOS emulator instead of having to use VDMSound.

Ok, my Baldurs Gate keeps blue screen crashing with what seems a different error message each time : Kmode exceptions Irq Not equal all sorts, can't quite remember all of them! It ran fine under win98se, but now it becomes a ticking time bomb once i start playing.

Could someone perhaps help me to resolve the following problem? I have been running Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 for some time quite successfully. During this time I have had my computer set to switch off my monitor to standby mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.

When I installed XP Pro on my laptop, I made some security changes to Administrator profile so only the Administrator can touch C:\Doucments and Settings\Administrator. Not even the Administrators group can access the files inside.

When i used Windows 2000, people who connected to my computer over the network (both lan and internet) needed be authenticated to even just view my shared folders under \\computername\ But now when i've got windows XP it seems this has gone to be a past of history.
What's the verdict on SP3, then?
