Morning all. I recently did a clean install of Win2K Pro. Prior to that I had WinME which for the most part ran quite well despite public opinion experiences. To say the least I had to load Win2K on for certain apps I needed that would only work with Win2K.

Disallowing Users from Installing Application

Hi Guys, I have a single Administrator account that everybody uses at home. Now everyone who uses this account can install any application. Is there a way to restrict them from doing it. Something like i can turn some policy on and whenever i want to install a program i can turn it off.

Has anyone managed to get 3DMark 99 working under WinXP??? I've tried several things including running it in compatibility mode. . . After installation, attempting to run the software results in an error complaing that DirectX 6.

I know everybody likes to make money, but I must say. . . the NTCompatible pop-ups are getting pretty darn annoying. It was nice to be able to come here and get what I need, and offer help to others, withoug corporate America plastered all over my desktop.

Anyone know how to remove just the annoying 'Drag n Drop' icons from my desktop on a Sony R505-TSK running Windows 2000? The program lets me burn CDs just fine, but I hate those crazy icons! ;( ;( ;(

Hey all, rather big MS security whole that has been around for 11 weeks, incase u did not know about it - it can be fixed with XP SP1, but for those of you who can not get SP1 (due to illegal blacklisted keys) - or just have not yet, check out TechTV.

The XP version of the administration tools (b3-web-version-adminpak. msi) for Microsoft servers will no longer install if SP1 is installed on an XP system. I have attempted to use latest adminpak. msi from.

Adminpak for XP SP1

Please can someone help. I had adminpak b3 installed on my XP WS and after installing XP SP1 it will no longer work. I cannot uninstall it and cannot install a new version on top because I get a service pack mismatch error.
