I want to change my group policy for the local machine but don't want the policy change to apply to all users only certain users or even a group. Is this possible without using Active Directory. .

Recieved the eval beta kit today, and Office 11 is great! I can't believe that this is only a 'Beta 1' release! I'm going to scour the EULA and provided it isn't in violation, I'd like to post some screenshots! The kit is available to order from Microsoft, if you're interested.

A Program like norton internet security just not as bloated

I love norton internet security minus one thing. . its bloated like every other symantec program. I just don't know anything else that is incorporated into one program that has a personal firewall, and privacy/popup blocker, AND an anti-virus as good a NAV.

I have a RAID controller from Promise (TX2000). When I boot the system it says scanning IDE drives. . . . . . . This takes over 20 seconds before switching to the RAID controller and boot up. Is there a way to make the boot-up-process faster? In the BIOS I chose SCSI as first boot device.

Ok i added this stuff to my cpu and it was nice, cpu never went over 49C ever. Now all of a sudden my temps are up 5C with the same case fans etc and when i look i have no arctic silver on the cpu anymore :x , does it dry up or something because i aint keep pulling my comp apart every month to add the damn stuff.

Hi, Im having a proble w/ my instalation of XP that I cant seem to fix. I'm using a powertoy called Virtual Desktop Manager, or something like that, and whenever I switch to another desktop, the background becomes volitile.
Logon prompt disappears, Win2K follows suit :(

I started my pc, & walked away from it. 'Bout 20 mins later, I returned to logon. Anyway, when I pressed ctrl-alt-del to logon to Win2K Pro, nothing happened. The logon prompt thingy just disappeared, & there was only the blue colour of the desktop screen (not BSOD).

I have to replace hard drives on several machines and am contemplating upgrading from Win 98 to XP Professional at the same time. One lingering question that I have not been able to get a definite answer to however is the compatability with my existing NT 4.

hi, I have a current configuration that consists of C: -> OS and P: -> Program Files on HDD0. I ghosted the C: of HDD0 to HDD1 as i want to use C: on HDD1 and P: on HDD0. But it doesn't allow me to logon to windows 2000.
Registry corrupt while using Ulead DVD workshop

Windows NT 4. 0 crashed, and came up with a blue screen saying it cannot load the hive file, while I was working with Ulead DVD workshop. The system now will not boot up, and is totally screwed! Any ideas as to what may have caused this?? Does anyone know if Ulead DVD workshop is compatable under Win NT 4.

Hi. I installed an older game, Baldur's Gate II, and I did not notice but I lost all my CD/DVD devices. For some reason, device manager has the ! on all my CD/DVD. It says something about corrupted drivers.

i have the same problems of playboy but in my case doesn't works the brakes in GP4 and colin mcrae rally 2. i have already setted and calibrate the wheel in control panel sidewinder (auto detect) and works right but in the games.
