Win XP to 2000 downgrade

Has anyone any experience in going from XP to 2k? At a guess this means a total reformat (regretably) is needed? If so problems with file system compatability that are likly to turn up? And is there anything i am likly to forget to back up.

reconnect network drives

hi, i noticed on my win2000 pro that network drives always got disconnect after a period of time as showed below. Do you know of a command that can re-establish the connection without re-mapping the drives again? thanks.

Changing the domain of a NT 4.0 Server...

Hey all, I have a project this weekend to reformat and reinstall a NT4 server. The server is actually very clean as it is, and the only reason for the reinstall was to switch domains. It's in an old domain, then the company switched names, and would like to have it join the new one.

I have a Samsung GT6000 series laptop it is a 400MHz pentium II and has 256MB of ram i have managed to install Windows XP sucessfully on it before but everytime i shut the computer down it crashed.

i had winxp installed, and then installed win98. . . i've done this before and it worked fine. but this time for some reason it does not give me a boot option screen. . . i'm not sure what happened. i know winxp is still on there and it probably work fine.

Drivers Needed! ATI Rage 128 ULTRA 32meg (Strange Problem)

We received a dell for one of our offices that came with WinXP. The software that the branch uses won't work with XP so they installed Win2K. We went to ATI. com and found drivers for the ATI Rage 128/Pro (Being the only choice really) but the setup says that those drivers won't work with our adapter.

DirectX / Overlay Broken in my Windows 2000 Server

Please Help! For weeks now, I've been trying to figure out why I can't get DirextX and Overlay to work on my Windows 2000 Server! I've tried multiple video cards and they all have the same problem, so I'm thinking that somehow the way I've configured the Server breaks DirectX / Overlay.

Heya I work in a internet caffe, so we need to disallow setup of programs for our customers. I have set up an account with limited right (user) so our customers can't setup disalowed programs. Every games work fine, but not half life.

Exchange Server 5.5, Log outgoing email??

I need to be able to log, or send to a mailbox, all outgoing mail. the smtp server is the same machine runing exchange. I also need tolog or send to a mailbox all incoming emails. For security reasons the boss wants this done.

I've read of a few people who have various other verisons of these glasses, and they say they work really well. Only real downside is they don't work with TFT screens It's possible that this X3D stuff might, but all the earlier models explicitly stated that you had to use a CRT screen.

Hi, I'm trying to run Tie Fighter Collector's CD-ROM in win2k pro Install goes just fine (apart from having no compatible soundcard) then trying to start the game tie. exe gives this error: VESA BIOS not detected Hires mode may not be available Then it asks about runnig UNIBVE to simulate VESA bu that doesn't work ...

back in win95 there was a patch for midi, it was a microsoft software synthesizer, and it was free it is now called direct music, i think. but anyway, you could install it as a driver, then play doom95 with very decent midi sound.

Scheduling Services to start and stop

Is there any way to do this with task scheduler. I have not tried it yet i was just wondering. The reason is because i run an FTP server and I defragment my hard drives every night. So when my drives are defragmenting I want to stop the server, and when they are done start it again.
