Building a new PC: AMD athlon 2700 and 2800

Hi, I've been wanting to build a new pc for about six months now. The reason I've waited so long is that I've heard really great things about the Athlon 2700 and 2800 and have been waiting for them to become availible (and hopefully get a bit cheaper).

Digital Video Recorder..CCTV....any thoughts?

Been investigating several hardware vendors of DVR's for use with Closed Circuit Cameras. I'm relativly new to hardware security. Here's my needs. IP access. Ability to do external backup - via IDE or SCSI (as unit will have internal drive of 40-80Gb) Secure access.

Blue screen when I install NIC

Hi all, I have Win2K Pro (service pack 3) running Promise 1X2 Mirror/RAID11. 10. Problem is I want to network two PCs so I have purchased two 10/100 NICs. If when I install a card in the PC I get the following blue screen mesage.

Unable to record *any* audio with my PCI 128

Can anyone explain why I can't record sound with this card plz? I've tried recording from Winamp, WMP9, Realplayer, Quicktime etc. . . I generally use Sound Recorder to capture sound in. wav format (but I've tried other programs too).

Audigy 2 - DOS Drivers

Hi! How can I use Audigy 2 with DOS games? I 've read that there aren't any DOS drivers. Only Audigy 1 had. Does anyone know if these work with 2 as well? If yes, where I can find them? They don't exist in Creative's site! I am Dual Booting XP with 98.

Hello there. I'm having big problems trying to play this great old game. Has anyone succesfully played this game in XP? It just shows me black screen and eats all memory. I have also tried it with Virtual PC and Dos 6.

still a pile of s*** for serious gamers at least, every driver since 42. 01 brings a black flickery screen thats worse on your eyes than i'd imagine playing at 20hz would be, in Quake 3 if you ctrl-esc to another app (such as mirc in on top mode) or alt-enter to windowed then back.

Does anyone know where to get the My Pictures screensaver that is included in ME and XP?. It's not included in Windows 2000, which I am running. If not, does anyone know where to get one similiar to it for free?.

driver insists on trying to reinstalling

Something that I haven't been able to figure out. I have a HP Deskjet 845c which works great under W2k, except that the usb driver insists on trying to reinstalling itself every time I reboot. Doesn't hurt anything, but, darn annoying, and totaly unnecessary.

Hey all! Well it is out! after all this waiting for UT 2003 to arrive, it has come, 3 cd's in size (3rd cd is a bonus) as well has latest drivers for ATI and NIVIDIA on the 3rd CD as well a special direct X 8.

Win 95 / IE 5.5 / Registry hack / SQL blues...

Right. We've been having a problem here at work with with a group of Win95 machines. They all use IE 5. 5 to view intranet links to a SQL database (don't know what type) which are URL's delivered through Lotus Notes 4.

Looks like its time to open the wallet once again. I am beginning to wish that MS had more hands on tests like the CCIE for cisco. All these paper tests are turning people into paper qualified technicians.
