This is a discussion about I don't mean to piss everyone off.......... in the Slack Space category; Haven't you noticed that all of the questions asked here are all about Windows 2000 and the errors it has or is given out to people. Some games don't work, hardware doesn't work, BSOD, illegal operations, sudden changes in the OS.
Haven't you noticed that all of the questions asked here are all about Windows 2000 and the errors it has or is given out to people. Some games don't work, hardware doesn't work, BSOD, illegal operations, sudden changes in the OS. Just goes to show that the OS isn't very good. I "was" using Windows 2000 awhile ago and got rid of it because it simply stinks. I rather have better compatibility in return for the odd error or two, then have a stable OS and nothing working right. That's why it's stable, cause they made sure next to nothing works on it, they "babied" it to get it working right. Crappy apps, games and hardware support, but it's stable. Now i like Windows 2000 because of it's features, but if w2k is not going to run programs well then forget it. There was only 1 program, one that i use a lot, called RPGMaker 95. I was done testing all of my games and apps with windows 2000 and discovered they all ran, last proggy on the list was RPG Maker, go to start it, doesn't work. Because of 1 program not running, which happened to be the one i use a lot, i had to uninstall windows 2000.

Oooooh, I just found out that you have to "burn-in" the ArctiCooler HSF - or it won't cool properly. The way that Agilent describes it being done is by putting a pencil in the fan area, booting the computer into the BIOS and then waiting until the CPU temp reaches approx 65 degrees C, and then removing the pencil...

INFERNO, a couple of companies build a PCI-extender type card that turns two PCI slots sideways (in a L shape.) AFAIK, they were made to allow generic motherboards to be used in 2U rackmount cases. Maybe you could find one of those instead.

HEY INFERNO, you've got that ThermalTake Golden Orb right? Well, ThermalTake um, er, Microsofted (Microsofted = to steal an idea without it being called "theft", like algoring = to tell a lie without it being called a "lie" )the design from HP (what Agilent used to be...) And from all accounts, the Arcticooler is a better cooling HSF than the Golden Orb. (By a few degrees in all the reviews I've seen.)

Oh well, I was looking at ordering ten or so of them. (The distributor has 176 in stock!)
BTW, your on-board ATA100 might max at 39MHz, but I had a Promise Ultra100 running on a bus speed of 41.5MHz - without any hd problems....

Inferno, you'll like the PA2013. Very good and stable board. I know of one having been running for two years with a K6-2 450.

I saw the thing about the L-PCI, but I have no use for it right now, as I'm only using 2 PCI slots, out of 6. 3 if you include that USB thing(but it's not using the PCI slot, just the opening
