Jesus. No one is asking MS to change their kernel. All we want are a few drivers for **** sakes. An all too common occurence is that a company releases a driver that is past being 'overdue' The driver still contains bugs, thats the nature of releasing updates. Many years ago, before the net people just lived with the many flaws within games because an update was not avaliable. Now that it is, we demand that us, as consumers get what we pay for. I mean, for someone to pay $500+ for an office package and to have it 'peform an illegal operation' is bull****. Now days all we do is say 'oh well, I'll reboot and then spend 6 hours on the net looking for a patch'
Screw that. And then some pod comes along and throws his out of date morals in your face saying piracy is wrong.
Anyway.. after all the rants and faulty drivers, for someone to say 'be happy with what you got' is a totally worthless comment
and that attitude has no place here. If we were all happy with what we got, these forums would be useless.

OP
Every OS will have buggy drivers. Hell Win2k is what, around 5 months old? Companies are still releasing buggy Win98 drivers for petes sake (cough nvidia..)
I'm still angry that 3dfx let microsoft remove "detached devices" support so a Voodoo2 would never work on Win2k.

Yes.... If customers don't speak up the companies won't do anything. It is important to make sure they know there are a lot of users having trouble with win9x (unstability no smp etc) and _need_ win2k support.
Well, I tried to go the route of complaining to the company, but Creative Labs largely blew me off on this one. When I complained that the Windows 2000 Liveware software and corresponding Live drivers were broken, they sent me back an email saying that the requested drivers could be found on their website. I went to the link they sent, and it simply said that Win2k drivers are currently available. They didn't even address the fact that I said the drivers they had posted were broken. In fact, thinking about it now, the response they gave me doesn't even look like they read the email I sent in the first place. Once again, Creative Labs screws up in the customer support arena!
What we need is for a person who has diplomatic immunity to go down to Creative Labs HQ and shoot a few people and encourage them to support Win2k. That goes for Intel as well and their lack of support for their graphics products under Win2k.
Some of us can't afford to buy new stuff and need the stuff we own to work properly. If companies don't want to support their products, there must be a way to report them to some type of comission to get them f%&ked over for bad practise.
