Windows 2000 Service Pack 1
This is a discussion about Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 in the Windows Hardware category; Just downloaded W2K service pack 1 from the MDSN site (you must be a member) so thought I would post a message before I upgrade. The download was 190 megs but not problem on a T-1 Well I'll be back if everything goes well and post an update.

I installed the SP1 beta update, but had problems with TCP/IP. I could connect to my ISP, but could not receive any data. So, I was forced to uninstall it and had no problems with TCP/IP after the uninstall.

OP
I have not noticed anything new, and it seems to make my system run a little better, could all be in my head.
NO! I would not post the service pack on my FTP server, I think everyone can wait.
It was a thought though.

Flat buttons?
I would love to have flat buttons on the taskbar. I saw this first at a beta of Whistler, it is very nice, and much cleaner.
not just cleaner for the taskbar, but actually for the whole desktop. At least I think so!
Here is a screenshot of flat buttons (with fading):

Maybe you already know this, but there is a program call CoolTaskbar http://www.kagi.com/OwnerWorld/ctbar.htm which can set it to be flat although it doesnt do the fading.
If this is not called a beta, I would label it as the most unicivilised patching exercises since slice bread. consider the full install takes about 300MB, a service "rewrite" weight in 200MB, simlpy a waste of the already congested web bandwidth.

I seems to have problem accessing msdn.microsoft.com download centre.
I have entered my Microsoft Online ID. But it just doesn't let me in. Reload the page again for me.
Now what should I do?

Are you legitimately an MSDN member? Just because you have an MS Online ID does not give you access to MSDN.
The approximate charge for MSDN is US $2500 for the first year, and $2000 for each renewal year. There is another level down, which does not offer as many developer components, and that is $800 or so.
tylau: if you missed my previous comments, the service pack is 60MB for the full version. MSDN members are downloading a CD image, hence the large size.

F.Y.I. The utility TClock ( http://homepage1.nifty.com/kazubon/) can also be used to make the taskbar buttons flat AND make the taskbar transparent! Very coolt.
Thanks a lot for that link, nMan.
The other taskbarmanager was shareware, but this is freeware. Very nice!
