Please Help with Boot missing File?

Hi all, sorry to bother you but i was wondering if anyone new how to solve my problem. Oks here goes I have a dual boot machine with 98 and 2000 previously had no troubles and loved it. Recently i installed a virus scanner halfway thru scanning it crashed.

Getting rid of "~" in filenames

Just backed up using xcopy32 and it copied all the files over the 8 chars long with the ever so annoying ~1. I really dont have a problem with this, but i have about 5 gigs of mp3z that look like this.

IE 5 - how to get rid of 'Links' folder in Favourites

Everytime I delete the 'Links' folder in my favourites (IE5) it reappears some time later. How can I permanently get rid of this ?? Many thanks Jez.

How to use colour settings in movies

Argh. I have a really dodgy monitor, and basically its got a heavy green overlay, and this is ok by playing with the colour adjustments in the display properties->nVidia etc etc But when i play movies, the colour adjustments arent applied to the movie being played, so theyre all green.

I just built a new server for our office. Specs: 1ghz KT7-Raid 3 30 IBM ATA-100 256 Generic Ram I am just not satisfied with the performace of this box. I have a similar box running 2000 pro and it flies.

Hi, I have Two HardDisks, one on each IDE channel, My current main OS is NT4 on IDE0 Primary HD, 1st Primary Partition(NTFS). I have on the other HDisk on IDE1 another NT4 in the First Primary partition(NTFS) and Win98 on Second Primary Partition(FAT32) on this slave assigned HD.

Is there ANY way to disable Dr. Watson?

I HATE it when Dr. Watson trys to debug huge programs! Quake crashes and since it's on fullscreen, I can't get out fast enough to cancle the debug! I was away and my firewall block MS Word, Word crashed and it debuged word! What can I do?.

Explorer crashes

Nearly everytime when I want to close a explorer window in win2k either the window or the whole explorer (taskbar, all other windows etc) crashes. Sometimes that also happens when I'm copying files to a folder.

I know I could pass for a newbie, which currently I am, but I'm having a little problem: I was wondering if I could install a copy of NT Server on a machine which already has 2K Professional. I'd need that for work and that would be great! (I scream thinking of all the configs to redo).

Lo folks, This one is starting to drive me nuts. The CD player app in Windoze 2000 used to pick up the track names from Tunes. com For the last couple of weeks it just keeps saying that the cd hasn't been found in the database.

Hey People; Well i have Windows 2000 Proffesional Installed on my Machine. All of a sudden dont remeber after installing which Program. I cant see anymore whats the Group name a User is assigned to. And when i want to remove an existing user i get an error message saying Error in the Path for Active Directory or so ...

I have a Dynamic IP program that connects to a server and lets me have a static host name that changes IP with my copmuter each time i log on. I have a few users on this machine. and I want the program that runs to run for all users.

Getting rid of Desktop Icons ??

Is there a way of getting rid of the System Desktop Icons off my desktop ?? I mean the 'My Computer', 'My Network Places' and the 'Recycle Bin' ones. I just want NOTHING on my desktop and to access these from the taskbar launchers.

NT4 -> Win2k move painful

I am pretty experienced with both NT4 & Win2K but I have a problem I don't know how to handle. The situation is moving a user from NT4 to Win2K. I did NOT want to run an upgrade, because the machine was unstable enough that it seemed like it would be better to do a fresh install and just move data over.
