WinNT Win2k dual boot - how?

Hey guys, sorry about the probable re-ask but i was unable to find any concrete answers as far as this topic goes. I am at work and I need to dual boot win2k and winNt. There is a reason for this. I need to use an optibase mpeg-1 encoder, and only drivers for NT and 95 are available.

Long boot times

My win2k+SP2 + AMD Athlon 1. 3G + Asus A7V133 + IBM ATA100 + 512 MB PC133 + GForce 2 + SB Live 5. 1 + Adaptec 2940 U2W + Plextor 40 The boot time is one and a half minute. It take's to much in the SCSI Adapter, i think (i have no network card) How can i solve the problem? Thank's Carlos Brito.

Can I 'share' Outlook messages with 2 computers

Hi, I have two computers connected together in a small network, and which I can toggle between using a KVM switch box. Is there a way I can 'share' my outlook messages. In other words from which ever computer I open Outlook, I'd like to see the same messages, same contacts etc etc.

Integrating Hotfixes into Win2k CD?

Can one do something similar to the SP2 updated Win2k install CD with the individual hotfixes? I have an NCR/LSI-based SCSI card, and Win2k SP2 without the latest hotfix for this problem has difficulty booting, quickly, at least.

Hello Now I know this is an NT forum but my friend is running win 98 and she is having problems with shutting down. She says it takes about 5 minuets to shut the computer down. She just uses it for office work nothing major.

Screen Capture to a printer.

Running 2000-Pro. Have been told there is a way to do a screen-capture to a printer by pressing certain keyboard keys simultaneously. I have tried <Ctrl><Print Screen>, <Alt><Print Screen>, <Shift><Print Screen>, etc.

Make a dual boot without losing win2k config

Hi I currently have win2k prof installed, but i want to make a dual boot with windows me, to play games. The problem is that i have a huge amount of programs installed and i want to make that dual boot without having to reinstal everything, and i also don't want to loose my network configs.

HD partision size(s) under Win2000

Just moved two PCs over to Win2000-Pro (full install vs. upgrade over 98SE) and have a question regarding hard drive partitioning. Each PC is outfitted with a 34GB-7200/rpm hard drive. Each hard drive is partitioned with a 2GB C partition for Win2000-Pro and the balance of for drive D for data, programs, etc.

I have partitioned my hard disk into a 2GB (Windows) partition and a 58GB partition. If I highlight all the files in the C: it comes to 1. 2 GB, however, if i go to My Computer and check the drive space from there, it says that I only have 139 Mb free ? Is this right ? More Ram ?????

I have 256 megs of ram. Is there a significant increase in perfomance if I was to add an extra 128 megs or would it remain the same. Ive heard that there is a point were more ram will not help the speed of your computer, what would that point be.

between the network settings popup and the login box. It is about a minute and a half. I followed some of the suggestions in the tweaking faq on this site and it went from being a quick boot sequence to this minute and a half delay.

Forcing resolution

W2k + geforce2 Mx detonator 7. 97 I wish to force my desktop resolution to 1280x1024x32 When I used 6. 31 Drivers It was possible. Now with 7. 97 the 1280x1024 option disappears. I tried to change monitor driver with one P&P monitor.

Paged & NonPaged Pool Sizes

This is not a tweak per say just some info that I didn't know and figured others didn't know as well. Windows 2000 defaults to a maximum of 256meg of paged pool memory and defaults to a maximum of 340meg of nonpagedpool memory The only way around this limitation is to boot with the /3GB switch enabled.
