anyone know why my start menu is slow with shadows enabled in xp? it hesitates when opening and closing it. I have a athlon 1. 4 Ghz and 512 MB DDR so its sholdnt be slow. Also, what do i need to enable DMA66/100 if its not already enabled? -Russell.

I have just done a clean install of: Windows Me on partition C, and a clean install of: Windows 2000 Pro on partition D. Now, I have decided that Windows Me is not very good (eats memory for breakfast, frags up like a ***** ect) so, heres the problem: I would like to re-format drive C, then reinstall Win 98.

Considering Service Packs can be slipstreamed back onto a Win2K CD, i'm curious, could the same be done with IE5. 5 and in the future maybe IE6 That would be cool And hey, it would be typically Micro$oft anyway, keeping the dominance in the Browser field.

I have heard now that FAT32 is faster than NTFS, So my Question is: When formating FAT32 (I Like Using Partition Magic:p) what cluster size makes for faster running of the OS. My mindset is that larger cluster sizes will decrease fragmentation because files have more slack around them, known as cluster overhang.

Hello, I am going to install Windows2000 on 2 partitions and Linux on one. 2 partitions cause i am going to play, tune, install, deinstall stuff on one partition, where it doesnt matter what happens and on the other it will be a system which wont change often.
