Win xp Pro Highpoint

I am having some problems. I have xp pro installed with a raid controller and when I hit f6 whil installing it would not work. SO I let it go with out installing raid drivers. Now windows thinks I have a SCSI drive.

ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1

In the W9x series you could add ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1 under in the system. ini-file for giving the pagefile a low priority. The pagefile isn't used until it's really neccecery, which give a nice speedboost when all of the system is in your real memory.

Problem with Microsoft force feedback wheel

I have a Microsoft Force Feedback wheel, but I can't get the buttoms to work when I play GP3. When Im in the software everything seems to be working perfect, but not when Im in the game. I have win2000 now, but when I had win 98ME it work perfect!! Do you know what the problem could be?!.

Hi All, I'm running a P4 1. 7 with 512mb RDRam and 2x 60gb IBM's partitioned as 6x 20gb. Can anyone advise me of the best pagefile settings for this configuration? I've read about 2. 5 times the physical memory and prevoulsy when I ran at 2x 60gb partitions i used 2x 512mb Pagefiles (1x 512mb on each physical drive ...

Now I'm not a computer genius but when i try to play after i insert the cd and install and then run i get a blue screen with a (time stamp???) or somthing and then my system crashes (correct me if I'm wrong) i here thats not good.

Windows XP - Missing 3 GB

I formatted my hard drive, did the typical install, and am now missing 3 GB. The install should only take up 1. 5 GB, but after the install it shows I have 4. 5 GB used. I turned of system restore if that helps anything.

deleting links in 'new' menu

Enabling SMARTdrive?

hi, Everytime I format my PC, and I install Win2k, it asks me to enable SMARTDrive, or else it will go slow. How do I get SMARTDrive enabled? I use a Win98 bootdisk, should I use an old DOS 6. 22 boot instead? and if you can, provide me a link to get SMARTDrive? Thanks, Shamrock.

alt+ctrl+del = Task Manager?

When I hit alt+ctrl+del, the Task Manager opens, instead of the Security Screen seen in Win2K? Why is this happening? Do I need to enable any special settings? Also, where did the old User Accounts configuration go to? I read that typing rundll32 netplwiz.

XP and Defragging

First thing, I got Win98SE and XP installed, a 20 gig hd with a 2-3 gig partition for XP and a 40 gig and 512 megs of ram (woot). A couple of days ago I thought it's been awhile since I defragged so I thought I would overnight.

XP taking forever to shutdown

Using XP Pro. Everything was cool until I installed nvidia 21. 81 ref drivers. Now my system takes a good 60 to 70 seconds to power down. Anyone else having this problem. Tried the 21. 83 whql drivers just made things worse.

Trying to find where "folder templates" are stored

This is a really tough one. . . . but hopefully someone can help me out or point me somewhere. One of the really cool things in Windows XP is the ability greatly customize a folder's view. Also, explorer will let you show additional properties of files, such as the bitrate, and IDv3 tag info for MP3 files.
