WHERE Windows XP store the autom. downloaded patches?

mpower
I would like to know if it's possible to backup the fixes/patches and updates that Windows XP donwload automatically from Microsoft, by this way when I do a new CLEAN intallation I could install all the updates at the same time and I would have not to wait until the SO completes all the downloads again.

Server Event viewer interpretation (Logon/Logoff)

rwilliams3
I have been asked by management to provide a report displaying when users logon in the morning and logoff when they are leaving. I've looked in the Event Viewer/Security Log and identified event ID 540 as Logon & 538 as Logoff, but there are multiple instances for each? For example, I see event ID 540 for user:Wilb ...

Win2k Server tests...

Brian Frank
Does anyone know of any practice test for Win2k Server-preferrably free ones? I've got a class this semester and I'd like to pass this test, if at all possible, and I think having a better understanding of what'll be asked might help me study better.

Win2000 (re)install

mcartwright
I previously posted re: CD-ROM problems - thanks all for your help but still no joy. it was suggested to tri a reinstall. I have the original CD-ROM and went for the 'upgrade' prompt. All was well until the system reboots after the initial bit of the install and prompts for the disc to be inserted in the CD ROM.

Windows XP Pro vs Windows 2000 Pro

gilgamesh
What are your guys opinions on XP vs 2000? I have used XP Pro for a couple months now. At first I was impressed, but I find myself wanting to go back to Windows 2000 Pro, where there is not as much overhead, like with the skinned GUI and other background services.

We have got an issue with application we need to install urgently that requires us to upgrade to Windows 2000 server. This means I will need to migrate the domain. I just want to sanity check my migration plans and hopefully get some tips on how to make it go smoothly.
