I was wondering who here has had a chance to play the recently opened PlanetSide beta. I got a chance to fool around with it yesterday and I can say it is AWESOME!!! I had my doubts about it, seeing that I didnt understand how something like a FPS would make it in the MMO world.

Mail info on XP Welcome Screen

Hi there. . . Does anyone know why is my Windows XP Welcome Screen always telling me that I have 2 unread mail messages? I mean - I have absolutely downloaded all my email messages in Outlook XP and I am absolutely sure that there is no message marked as unread.

won't chkdsk on reboot :(

hi question for everyone. . . I have WinXP Prof. . . when I try and schedule a chkdsk on my next reboot (start > run > chkdsk /f > click 'y' to schedule) when I reboot nothing happens it just boots normally.

Hello how to unlock a session locked by screen saver? (without reset of course) I want to know if it's possible to force a session to close with save data (or not) ? is exist something to do that ? It's for me and not job.

No audio with Nero

I recently installed Nero on my XP Corporate machine. When I create a cd using mp3's no problem burning. When I play in a Cd player I get no audio, am I missing something. I am using latest Nero. .

In our office my colleagues are taking some of the datas from my machine without my knowledge thru lan. i. e by typing \\mysystemname\d$ Now i've unshared all the drive and took over the ownership control of all the files.

Hi Gang, I have an XVid copy of the The Pianist can someone tell me where I can download the QIX codec? Also to my knowledge there are two distributions of the XVid codec do either of them contain this Qix by default? Thanks in Advance, Christian Blackburn

I just got an odd request, but yet I have to ask. . . . Is there anywhere that I can download a copy of say IE 5. 0 or 5. 5 as a standalone? What I mean is that is there anywhere I can download a copy of IE, burn it onto a CD, and install it on my laptop that doesn't have internet access? Thanks for any help.

sharing folders in XP

In 2k i could share my folders on my little home network and set all the settings and who was allowed to access them etc ! however i don't seem to be able to do this in XP i either share them or i dont ! ( is there any way i can enable the feature of playing with all the settings? thanks :x

Unable to log off or shutdown in 2k

I always seem to get the 'weird' problems. Running Win 2k w/sp3 I have a box set up with one user and using TweakUI I set it to login with that restricted user automatically. I changed the startup of some services in Administrator Tools to trim down what is running at startup and now when I try to log off to get in ...

In WinXP, where are Backgrounds stored?

I've been helping improve a WinXP-Home machine of a friend of mine recently (I'm a Win2K man, myself), by configuring it in a better way than he'd had it. One of the things I've been hoping to do with this friend's machine is to add one or two extra Backgrounds for the Desktop.
