I recently tried to install SP4 for w2k. It had a serious problem with a driver for my scanner and windows was unable to load until I booted in safe mode and uninstalled the service pack. Has anyone had a similar problem with earlier sps.

NDIS Proxy, what is it?

Can anyone tell me what the NDIS Proxy driver (ndproxy. sys) does please? I checked the MS knowledge site and didn't understand a word of it. Whilst tweaking my system I disabled this driver. . . however when i replaced the registry entries for this service from an XP Home machine to reacrivate it.

XP Pro System Restore Crash

My Windows Media Player 9 crashed few times so I reinstalls it. As it reinstalls it adds system restore point right. . . Anyway here is the deal after that I noticed it still crash so I wish to revert back.

hi, We have in our firm Windows 2000 professional clients(around 150 clients) and a mix of WinNT and Win 2K servers. We have Service Pack 1 installed on the clients. I wanted to know the best way to CENTRALLY install SP 3 on these clients.

How to delete unused pagefile.sys?

Hi. . I have 2 hard drives in my system and I assigned the pagefile to my second hard drive. When I ran Perfect Disk it reported that the pagefile. sys in my first hard drive is still there and is very fragmented.

Laptop - need to run XP or 2000 on it!

Hi I have an intell pentium 400 mhz with 256 mb of ram in the past i have had windows XP running on it when i recently came to install xp OR 2000 on it it crashes when the blue installation screen apprars in the xp/2000 setup any ideas why?? , i would really like to have xp or 2000 on my laptop

ClearType on Windows 2000

The ONLY feature about WinXP that I'm bothered about having is ClearType. Otherwise I can't stand XP, it's Fisher-Price interface is inhibiting and it runs far too slowly. I am a Win2000 man. Has anyone attempted to rework the ClearType feature backwards into Win2000? I am not alone.

Hi Gang, I'm wondering does anybody own this? If so what do you think? What isn't included from V-Com's major software suites? It looks like there's no partitioning, backup, or multi-boot functionality.

Hi I recently followed a guide on the Net to get SP1 installed on to my Windows XP. That works great. I then came across a pre-integrated SP1 build and obtained a serial for it to try it out. It worked, installed etc.

Help HElp!! Windows XP Pro Hotfix

I'm upgrading my computer tomorrow, new CPU, motherboard and HDD. I want to do a complete reinstall of XP Pro from scratch on my new drive. What I don't want to do is spend hours downloading the updates for XP and IE6 that I've already got on my current machine.

NT 4.0 Boot Problem

Folks, Looking for a steer. NT 4. 0 Server with Raid 5 controller booting as far as the NT 4 Blue screen. Getting no periods (dots), hangs for about 6 seconds and proceeds to reboot. Does the same in VGA mode.
