I tried searching, but found nothing helpful, so if this HAS been answered elsewhere, please forgive me, but I am really dying to play my fave space game of all time, and really would love to let my kids in on the joy that was Privateer as well.

NOCD workaround for Jane's? What is the workaround?

The compatibility instructions for Jane's Longbow Gold are pretty simple Create a shortcut to the install program on cd. Enable windows 95 compatability mode for the shortcut. Use nocd workaround. But I can't figure out or find what the nocd workaround is.

I just got a new computer with Win XP I had Win 98se before. Most of my games translate to the new OS, but I cannot get a few to work, including Lords of the Realm 2 by Sierra. It is DOS based, however on Win 98se you could play it in a window (and thus minimize it).

Need for Speed 4 under Win2000

Hi, I know it's an old game, but I still love it. But it just won't install under Windows 2000. It gives me an error Message that says: NFS4 can only be installed under Win95 and 98 Is there anything, that can provide the compatibility, like an emulator or a patch or something.

ok I have reinstalled the game fresh, tried new video card drivers etc nothing helps. I get lockups after starting to play the game between 5-15 mins but it locks whole system up and have to reset system.

I'm having a problem launching the actual game. With QFixxApp, I manage to install the game, play intros, configure and select items for the mission but when I hit 'Play', the screen just goes black for several minutes.

why oh why has nobody made abandoned dos games into winxp

games that everyone can play. . . these old dos games many of them are great as they are only needing to be made so they can be played on win xp. . for instance old time game contstructor by acclaim i cant get it working on win xp.

Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate on XP - help?

I just recently got the Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate game from a friend after waiting for 2 years, and getting a new computer in the meantime, which runs on Windows XP professional. After installing the game and trying to play it, the screen went black for a few seconds and returned to the original desktop screen.

The problem is likely to be a invalid symbolic link to the Mozilla build directory. fontEncoding. properties ->. . /. . /. . /. . /. . /. . /BUILD/mozilla/gfx/src/gtk/fontEncoding. properties remove this file may work.

cable modem drops packets when running game in high priority

this is odd but it seems there are times when the game i play if I play it at high priority then it seems that my cable modem will sit there for like 30-45 seconds sometimes with the downstream light doing nothing and the upstream sits there and blinks.
