Win2k woes.....

Hey guys, i need your help. Ive recently switched one of my gaming boxes to win2k from windows ME beacause winme really pissed me off. But anyway, win2k hasn't been any better. Ever game i play, it doesn't matter which one, old and new, i will get either a lock-up, a drop to windows, or a bsod (irql_not_less_or_equal).

hi, I have an abit KT7-Raid Board, which has an highpoint 370 on the board. Trying to install xp beta 2 (Build 2462), and i get blue screens while installation. Which driver sould be used for the Highpoint Controller? i tryed both, 1.

Formating a new Harddrive in Windows 2000

Hi guys Is there anyway I can format a new Hard Drive in Windows 2000 without fdisking or adding a primary dos parition? Can you please provide me in detail how this process is done if it is possible to format a new Hard Drive in Windows 2000.

Is it possible to install two sound cards in a computer? y? because my 1st sound card has a built it IDE controller and im using it for my 10GB HD and 250Zip Drive. I have 4 IDE drive (2) 20 GB and (2) 30GB.

I am having a odd lagging problem and. . have not yet. . solved it. . so I thought I would see if any one here can make sense of this! Thanks! NT claims that it is using the same vector for two different SCSI controllers.

Hi. . . Hoping someone might know something about a peculiar little phenomenon I've seen at work. With certain hardware configurations (probably the motherboards, but not sure), Win2K hands out IRQs beyond 15, such as IRQ 23, IRQ 28, and IRQ 30.

Hi I have a Abit KT7-RAID card with a Highpoint controller. My harddisk is two ATA100 disks. In WinMe the performance is great. In Sisoft Sandra I get 27000 points. (considering it's 5400 drives). But in Win2000 (and WinXP) I get 16000.

What sound card to buy

Hello. I have the Sound blaster 16 pci right now and was thinking of an upgrade. Would I really notice the difference in quality if I bought the SB 64, SB 128 OR SB 128. I'm starting to play more games, but I'm wondering if the sound is all that much better in the cards mentioned above.

Rounded SCSI cables?

My case has quite good air flow. I guess it should have with 6 case fans, an Enermax PS and the like. However, when I look at the air flow I can see one potential problem - the SCSI cable. I have rounded ATA-100 & Floppy cables, they tuck away nicely but that damn SCSI cable, running top to bottom in my case connec ...

Hauppauge just 'inofficially' released a new driver for all WinTV-cards for Windows NT 4 and 2000. The Readme isn't updated, so don't know what has been changed. For those who have troubles might try it anyways.

Hello all! I'm at the end of my rope, yesterday evening my Dad's Asus A7V motherboard's PS/2 ports died. We can't use the keyboard or the mouse. I put on a USB keyboard and mouse and we get the same problem.

Hi, Most of us know that when pressing Alt+Tab, windows would minimize the program your are currently using and show the desktop. But my case is not so. When I upgraded my computer to Win2k from Win98SE, when ever I press Alt+Tab, it just restarts.

Anti-Virus on Whistler?

Does anyone know of anti-virus software that works with whistler? I've tried Nortons v7. 5, McAfee v3, and InnoculateIT v(latest). Nortons blue screens when i force the load, McAfee says it's not compatible, and Innoculate loads but will not actively scan nor will it scan my email.

For the longest time I've thought that the max speed any harddrive can do is just 40something megs per second. . . . this goes for all flavors of ATA and SCSI, etc. . . I felt that things like Ultra160 just refers to the bandwidth that that particualr interface can handle simultainiously.
