Laptop Advice...

Hey, Anyone had any experience with Advent Laptops? - Mostly sold in the UK I believe, by PC World, and Dixons group. I'm looking at the 6412 Model on the frontpage of and want to use it for programming mainly, but also the usual other rubbish.

XP 2475 help please!!

i know this build is a bit old by now but i need help with it. I just installed it and when i go to log on it says you need to activate it before i can log on. Whta can i do to get passed this cos i know the 2475 activation is different to the others.

Double Taskbar Problem

Hello folks, I need some help. I'm using the 2465 version and there's this bug that just appeared recently: double quicklauch on taskbar. Also, everytime I log in and open a program or a internet page, I get 2 times the small rectangle in the taskbar.

Remote Assistance

How does this work? I`m curious because everything I`ve read suggests that XP Home can ask for remote assistance but doesn`t have the capability to actually control someone elses PC (offer assistance).

Yeah that's right!!!

I did the same thing, I installed Liveware3 and it worked just fine. When u install XP, the drivers get a little fussy but all u have to do is uninstall them and reinstall them. .

help with monster 3d 2 drivers

i just looked on the ntcompatible sire and it said: Monster 3D 2 (Diamond) Yes W2000 08/99 Work with INF file available on the 3Dfx FAQ page under Windows 2000 but when i went to 3dfx's site they went under so the faq page isn't there.

random shutdowns!

Hi there. Ok I have a kinda unusual and very annoying problem here. . . . with the PC. . . I have my system dual booted with Win98SE and that works fine. But, at any time when I'm on the desktop in Win2000, the system can just turn itself off and back on.

Can't overclock my cpu with gforce 3 hercules

Hello everybody I have a motherboard ASUS CUSL 2 with a pentium III 866 I have a GFORCE 3 from GUILLEMOT (HERCULES) When I overclock my CPU frequency from 133 to more (for exemple 145), my PC don't work when i launch 3 applications.

Bottleneck somewhere

ok in my system i have a bottle neck somewhere and i don't know where cause usualy i get real low 3d scores and it always makes ****ed up noise wheni tried to listen to music and install a program. but heres my stats: mobo:abit-kt7a raid processor:athlon 850 ram:(1)stick of generic 256 (1)stick of 64 hardrive:maxtor 8.

Problems w/ US Robotics 56K fax/modem

Well, we did it; we upgraded from Win98SE to Win2000-Pro. In short, it has been a nightmare!!!!! The most recent problem is trying to get a dial tone from our 3Com US Robotics 56K V90 Fax/Modem. Worked flawlessly under Win98SE.

MSI 694D Pro AR with RAID...driver errors

Okay, I am really pissed right now. I just got an MSI 694D Pro dual cpu board with the Promise ATA100 controller. I'm really confused about it, because the Promise chip itself says PCD20265 but it has a FastTrack BIOS screen and menu after the mobo BIOS.

problem with xp and zip files

i installed xp on its own partition and explorer was set as the deafult program for opening zip files. I deleted that installation and used xp to upgrade win2k. Now the default program is a program called enzip (which I uninstalled).

ATA RAID5 - Anybody Tried??

I've seen plenty of people who have and are using either RAID 0, RAID 1 or RAID 0+1 arrays with IDE drives. Just wondered it anybody here has used a RAID 5 array with IDE disks, using a controller along the lines of the Promise Supertrak or Adaptec ATA2400A.
