Windows XP upgrade

I was weary of upgrading to XP when it becomes available, but I've been reading articles and message boards to get a good idea of the whole process and feedback. It seems XP should make it easier for me to work out of my home more.

Getting Liveware 3.0 to work with XP!

You can install Liveware 3. 0 for Windows 2000 on XP. The only catch is you need to replace the DEVLDR32. EXE with the version that comes on your copy of XP (i386/drivers. cab). Expand the cab and find DEVLDR32.

No 3D Sound support in XP with SBLive!

Everytime I enable 3D sound with environmental effects in a game, be it EAX or DirectSound, I get weird distorted noises. Then the sound totally cuts out. Sound works perfectly without 3D support. I am running WinXP b.

Shutdown Problem with 2495

I had 2486 installed fine, and just replaced it with 2495, which itself is working fine, except for a few problems. The biggest one being that I can't shut the computer down. It simply restarts on using the Shutdown command.

Matrox G400DH and XP RC-1 (2505)

Dear All, Anybody have any experience with G400DH in XP RC-1 ? The native driver in XP seems not to support Dual Head ( AKA i haven't found it yet ). In build 2495 i installed the latest G400 W2K driver v5.

Santa Cruz Sound Card and Resources..Help Please.

OK I wanted to dual boot my RC 1 with my current Win2K install but I have a problem. I get scratchy noises and hisses so I can't really do anything. I think it might be because I have a resource conflict on my Santa Cruz Game Port.

Hey I really need some help here, I put together a computer a little while ago. Its a biostar m7mke motherboard (via chipset) with 950 mhz athlon, 256 mb pc133 ram, geforce3, and an sblive (the network adapter is USB).

Ok, I work as a LAN tech for Xerox and we ran into a wonderful little problem last week. Some sales goof at one of our corporate offices decided to install XP (how he added it to the domain we still don't know) after an ALl Exchange email went out stating that NOBODY is to even think about XP let alone install it.

HPT-370 PCI RAID Card and Win2k

Hey all, I seem to be having a problem with a newly installed HighPoint HPT-370 based PCI RAID controller. After installing the card and connecting two drives as masters on each controller (two 43GB 7200 RPM IBM drives) on a RAID 0 array, I have noticed an intermittent stuttering while there is disk activity.

Linksys EFSP42 Print Server Problem

Has anyone had a problem printing with XP to the Linksys 2 port print server. The print server works fine with W2K. The Linksys Bi-Admin will see the print server and allow me to change the configuration using XP, but when I try to configure a printer it does not see the print server.

HELP! Windows 2000 Pro won't install

Hi group, I am having issues with my PC. I have ABit VA6 PentiumIII 600MHz computer which is running Linux and Win98 at this time. Recently I tried to upgrade to Windows 2000 Pro, but everytime installation crashes (BSOD) and I have to start over.

Mouseaccel

I just installed WinXP RC1, and I can't seem to turn mouseaccel completely off. I'm using Logitech Mouseware for my mouse, but setting mouseaccel to off there doesn't disabled it 100%. I don't like gaming with mouseaccel, so I want it completely off.

Intel Celeron compability with NT and 2000 servers

Do anyone know if there is any problem trying to run NT server in a Celeron machine? What about 2000 Advanced Server? I want to have two servers (one NT 4. 0 and one 2000) for testing my C++ applications (NT Services and stuff like that).

Win95 to WinXP not possible?

I don't know why this pisses me off, but I think Microsoft is arrogant and ignorant for dropping Win95 from the upgrade path to Windows XP. Windows 95 still has a huge install base, and a lot of small businesses still use it.
