Athlon XP or Athlon Thunderbird

I am going to be upgrading this month. What processor should I go with? I can get a 1. 4Ghz Athlon for about $100. How much faster is the XP? Is it worth the price increase? Will Socket A motherboards support the XP?.

Pioneer 106s DVD =reboot!

I have a pioneer 106s dvd rom drive with winxp and when i nsert any cd/dvd into the drive it will reboot the system or shut it down automagically. I can fool it into not rebooting by first rebooting and popping in the cd at the bios screen, but that's a pain just to use any type of cd.

is soundfont supported by the audigy under winxp? because mine seems like it can't. i hope this is a software issue and is fixable by the coming winxp drivers. .

Has anyone managed to get this to work under Win2k/XP? Saitek were no help at all saying that they won't be qualifying any non usb devices under Windows 2000 or XP. .

I am going to be upgrading my machine at the end of this month and not sure what I should get. Right now I have an Abit KA7 Slot A MB, with an 800mhz Athlon. About a month ago, I purchased an additional 512MB for it.

XP DVD/Hollywood+ Problems

I am having trouble getting my DVD player to work in Windows XP. When I insert a disc, it will recognize the disc and display the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders correctly. However, these folders come up as empty in explorer.

I have a Turtle Beach Montego II sound card that came with my old Dell. Windows 2000 and Windows XP both detect it as Aureal Vortex 8830 Audio (WDM). The card works fine in Windows 2000 and is detected under Windows XP, but it goes mute about 10 seconds into whatever sound it is playing and i have to restart Window ...

I bought an OEM Audigy, thinking I could record digitally from the sound card to my minidisc recorder. Well apprarently, the digital out on the back of the pci card is only for speakers. I did some more research and apparently the Livedrive has optical TOSLink output.

HP 970cxi prints a test page when i print anything

I'm running winxp pro build 2600. My hp 970cxi is connected through USB. Almost everytime i print something the printers prints a testpage also. I've looked at all the printer options, but i couldn't find anything to disable that.

ok, when i get a call on my phone line, i'll answer it like normal, then my modem decides to pick up also and tries to communicate, so i run back to the computer, open up my DUN connection and click Connect and it stops.

Need help with TV-out with GeForce

I recently installed Windows XP, and overall, it's been really good to me. . . Except, I can't get my TV-out to work. I've tried every damn possible driver I can think of, and the only one that gets me close makes me restart my computer everytime I want to switch between screens.

I bought a Asus P4T about a week ago and have been trying to install Win2k on this new system. When the 2k setup starts it prompts you to press F6 and give it a controller driver but none of the drivers I have found work.

Fast switching...Problems

Ok, I enabled fast switching for my computer since I have a couple people using it. The switching works in my account , administrator, but it doesn't work well in the other acounts. I thought that this was because they weren't administrators so I changed the user accounts to be admins.

I have an AT style case that I customized and would hate to give up. The problem is that I can't seem to find any AT style boards anymore that can hold more than a k6-2 cpu. Does anyone know of any company that makes these boards? I would love to find one that is socket A.

I installed the newest set of drivers that were supposed to fix a problem i was having. I cannot boot into win2k server AT ALL. No safe mode, no debugging mode. Nothing will work. I'm assuming my last line of action is the Recovery Console.

Problem with camcorder and Firewire

Hi, I can't get the panasonic camcorder to work with my notebook and Win XP. I connect them via Firewire. . . with Win2k before I had no problems. I plugged the cable in and the image device was found.
