ok i've been all over the internet to try and find a decent mobo compatible to load w2k server on to practice for my cert exam. i found that i should seek an intel mobo but which one, i have no idea.

CD and DVD drives missing

Woke up this morning and found my CD and DVD drives missing from My Computer folder. Device manager shows an (!) with a code 31 for each. Have uninstalled and reinstalled both drives, also controllers.

Drawing hardware for artists?

I know this stuff must exist, so what is the best hardware device to use for painting pictures or drawing on the computer. Like a usb pen and pad with pallette section etc. Also, how do companies draw stuff for games? Do they paint them and them scan the images or how does that work? Thanks.

Ok, i have a problem i think is due to BIOS not sure though. I have pulled everything, and tested the processor in another computer all work. Now when i turn on this box, everything comes on like it is going to boot then it won't even beep like it normally does after it posts.

Overclocking TNT2 M64 Pro

Hey i just added a P III heat sink & fan to a TNT2 M64 pro card and overclocked it from 125 to 160 Mhz(processor), and 125 to 150(memory), i want to get the moooost possible performance out of this card, can't overclock it more without more cooling(which i can't think what to do without spending money).

i have a problem with my burner in XP. I have a plextor 8x4x32 and from whta I've been told this burner is compatible with XP, but I cant get it to work. Actually, if I burn files with explorer it works, but if i try nero, easy cd, or even media player it won't work.

hi i have a problem i just installed windows 2000 and my current video card (Nvidia tnt model 64) just is not working. i instaled teh new detonators the main problem is that i cant change my resolution past 800 by 600 and teh color is 16 and will not change.

hello everyone curantly running 1 cpu in an abit vp6 (cyrix c3) and will be upgrading to 2-1Ghz intel's in mouth or so. will xp see and use the other cpu when the upgrade happens or will i have to reinstall the os again? the activation code is the hassle not the install.

Kodak Snapshot Photo Scanner 1

I'm assuming it is because of the recent bad blood between MS and Kodak, but Kodak does NOT intend to update the driver for this photo scanner. Yes, it is 4 years old, but has very good quality and resolution.

Well I finally took the plunge. After months of Soul searching I finally went with the COmpaq 2715US over the Dell Inspiron 8100. COmpaq had more features and the case looked a lot cooler. PLus I support the 8100's at work and they seem to have glitches, with thier mini pci cards.

Intel CS 110 USB webcam + Win2k?

Whenever I try to install it, it won't do a thing, it just gives The data is invalid and installs a blank USB imaging device. I have an Epox 8KHA motherboard that's using the VIA chipset for USB. I'm also using a AMD 1ghz Thunderbird and I have a Nvidia Geforce 2 GTS card, if that makes any difference at all.

mshta.exe error after Ghost imaged drive

I want to have 2 switchable, bootable drives in 2k w/SP2 & FAT32. Using SystemWorks 2002 I imaged the first drive and used sysprep. exe per M$ prior to imaging the drive. I do the image, transfer the image to the other drive go through the setup, but still get the mshta.

I have been having several IRQ sharing problems in 2 different computers with Win XP Pro, and no one seems to have an answer. System #1 - P II 450, 192 RAM, 8 gig, integrated sound, Nividia TNT Video, el-cheapo ethernet, and a modem.

Asus nForce microATX anytime soon?

Anyone know if Asus will produce an nForce microATX motherboard? If so, how long before they're produced? At first, I thought they had some out, as a search on pricewatch resulted in a few Asus mobos with Micro ATX, but the 5 PCI ports listed hinted one was of the specs was the typo.

CD-ROM Drives are missing

I have a system that has been running XP Professional for a while now. I have an older SCSI 4x/4x/20x CD/RW drive, as well as a 32x SCSI CD-ROM Drive. Two days ago, the CD-ROM drive letters disappeared, and I have no access to them.

How to Remove Devices in XP

I don't mean uninstalling using device manager, but I am looking for the method to properly remove a hardware device and all associated drivers in XP. I remember that w/ Win2K there is a control applet called Unplug or Uninstall Devices, but this functionality doesn't seem to be in WinXP anymore.
