error message on blue screen

I hope somebody can help me with this one. I am unable to install windows xp as i keep getting a stop error message on a blue background. The message is as follows: STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80845B83, 0xF9E84FA4, 0x00000000) Please help!.

New MB and existing Drive with XP on it

Im trying to use an existing hard drive with Xp on it with my new motherboard MSI845Ultra, but since it has a new IDE controller on it XP wont boot because it doesnt have the drivers installed and wont recognize a bootable device on it.

Hi Today i bought myself a Sidewinder Dual Strike. Sadly i cant install the software (v4. 0) it came with. Im using Windows 2000 and Direct X 8. 1a with the 2. Service Release. It tells me i need administrative rights to install the software.

Hey, As I'm replacing a motherboard atm, I'm looking into moving my HDs around to increase better air-flow and cooling to them. I was wondering if any potential harm or side effects could occur if you posistion them on their sides (vertically) rather then normally (horizontally).

I'm seeing the following error message in my event log each time I boot Win2K: The device, \Device\Scsi\HPT3xxNT1, did not respond within the timeout period. The system runs perfectly and Chkdsk shows no errors whatever.

I recently built a new system to replace an older one and used many parts from the old one. The old system's boot drive (13GB C had XP Pro on it, but I moved it to slave and set the new 60GB as master, and I installed XP Pro on it.

Windows 2000 performance?

Has anyone ever heard of Windows 2000 slowing the performance of new high end systems (compared to 9x)? I just built my new system and have dual-boot 2000/98 on the same partition. 2000 is nowhere close to as fast as I expected it to be on this system, 98 is much faster but I prefer 2000 for the stability.

I need to get hold of a USB external HD for work. The ones I've seen at good prices are all listed as USB 2. All of the PC's here at work have USB 1 or USB 1. 1 ports. Will a USB 2 device work in a USB 1.

I currently have a Diamond Viper TNT2 Ultra V770 for 2D and a voodoo2 for my 3D. Im thinking about gettin a Geforce4. If i bought the cheapest G4 which is about 120$, would it have better 2D quality than my Viper? I already know it should be better 3D than my voodoo2.

I'm using the above motherboard with an athlon xp 1700 which has a default voltage of 1. 75 V. When i set my bios at the value of 1. 75 the msi PC alert 3 software detects the cpu only runs at 1,67 V.

DVD-R/RW/RAM drive question

I'm thinking about getting a DVD-R/RW/RAM drive. I can get a Panasonic for $330, an HP for $450 or a Pioneer for $420. I don't know the DVD-R/RW/RAM scene well. I'm under the impression the drive must be able to burn on DVD-Rs in order to make DVDs which run on standard DVD players for viewing on TV.
