Some light please ! I read or heard that new Athlons XP (including 1800+ and above) were made with (Intel's ?) new technology IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader) just like the new P/// Tualatin and all P4.

hey. . a friend of mine is unable to run his xp system. a few days ago he booted his computer and xp didn't load. he got a message that the file SOFTWARE is corrupted. he didn't install any new hardware or software and the xp ran just fine the day before.

Burner problems

Hi. I'm having some major problems with my CD-R/RW unit, a Samsung SW-408B. It doesn't support Burn-Proof technology, but even when i have about 220 mb's of RAM free, and I do nothing else at the same time, I will get buffer underruns.

Anyone had any problems getting this to work? The software installs fine and some of the keys work (including the power on/off) but several rows of keys dont work at all. Win2k still shows it as a standard 101/102 keyboard so I'm thinking its a driver issue but perhaps the kb is just bad.

Hi I have just upgraded a PC to 2000 and it has the HP 7200e external cd-writer attached to it. I found out that the installation disks no longer work, and it dumped the system files so I had to reformat.

it is a hradware prob but also softwre prob. microsoft blames the hardware (bios) but in fact it is XP that is at fault blocking 0x70 and 0x71. i am talking about event ID4, and 5. ACPI BIOS has attempted to read/write to protected memory sector 0x70 and or 0x71.

hmm just installed my new ibm 45 gig as my second master HD. bios sees it, device manager sees it but it is not listed in my computer. how I format it to NTFS to match my primary HD.

I put in an HP dvd200i, and am getting errors while writing to DVD+RW disks using the included software. The software warns not to run other things in the backgroundwhich I don't. But I figure closing all but the necessary processes in the taskmanager might help.

While playing around with WCPUID, I made the discovery that my AGP bus was only running in 1x mode, in spite of the fact it supports 2x mode. Also, sidebanding is disabled, even though that's supported.

I have a 40gb hard drive that I have only 3gb in the system partition. I keep getting drive running out of space messages because 3 people share this pc. I have a 15gb empty partition. Can I combine them somehow and how without reformating?.

I just noticed a few hours ago that my Plextor is running under PIO Mode. (Device Manager/IDE/ATAPI Controllers/Secondary IDE Channel) I thought the solution was simple, tell it to use DMA if available.
