Modem Problems in XP

I was running XP pro on my laptop. I only use the modem when I am on the road other wise I use my home network for internet and email access. I was on a trip this past week and everytime I went to use the modem, the dial up connection said no modem detected.

Hi, I have two hard discs. Both are UATA. If I copied any big file (e. g. divx movie) from first one to the other my system is going to work slowly. Even if I would like to shut down the system this operation takes much more time.

My DVD Drives take ages to read DVD!!! :(

Hi guyz, I have had these 2 DVD Drives for a while now and never tried a dvd on them. Last week i decided to buy a mag with a DVD on and when i popped it into the drive it starts to read, but it keeps reading (as if it were a scratched cd) and then after about 10mins of waiting it plays fine.

I just upgraded my PC from P3 Celeon to P4-1. 6GHz with an Asus P4S333 MB. I installed W2K Server on the weekend and everything went fine. This afternoon I bought the iPanel and I can't get Windows to boot anymore.

I am getting a new hard drive (Western Digital 120GB w/8MB cache) for backup. It will be the primary slave device. Should I format it to FAT32 or NTFS? BTW, is that hard drive only sold in OEM? I can't seem to find one that is sold in retail.

Cannot send a fax under XP?

Now here's a real bugger. I've tried the included Fax utility of Windows XP to see if I could send a fax with my modem (Creative Labs Modem Blaster PCI 56k), something I did seamlessly with Windows 98, WinME, and Win2k, with the help of Microsoft Mail/Outlook.

I changed from ACPI to Standard PC, only to find out that Power Management is toast. One of two things: Is there a way to get Power Management in Standard PC mode? OR Is there a way to get ACPI back without having to reinstall? Thanks.

Video Troubles After Power Outage W2K

Had a power outage on friend's machine. After outage, computer will display 2K splash screen and then before logon the monitor jumps to 120Hz and all is black. You can here it hit desktop as it plays the Windows startup wav.

hi all, One of my friends recently bought a TNT2 Pro, and wanted to replace it with his ATI 3D Rage pro, the isntallation went fine until it came to the part when windows XP usually boots up, but nothing happened, the screen just stays black! I checked the HDD boot order they were fine.
