Building a quiet PC (Athlon 2500+ based)

HawkBoy
Hi, After a LOT of research, I've decided against water-cooling (it's just a big pain in the @$$ right now). I was wondering how I could make an Athlon CPU quiet without it constantly overheating, or me underclocking it.

ATI: LOOKING GOOD (9800 series upcoming)!

ThC 129
ATI says the next version of their catalyst drivers 3. 3 will have more performance gains in them. They said that they are commited to brining users Solid Stable Drivers that still perform well. Also the 9700 prices will be droping around $100 USD, so those cards are going to be FLYING off of shelves at that price.

mezron
Quote:Downloading now, @ 4. 1kb/second. . . SLOW! Man. . . I only dream of downloading things that fast 8) It'll sure be nice when broadband is available here. I was on cable at my previous home, I really got used to 400-600kb/ sec there.

Mixing hard drives

belveder
Out of curiosity, I just bought a new hard drive that is 80 gig, 7200 rpm, ATA 100 with 8mg cache but my old hard drive is 30 gig, ATA 66 and runs at 5400 rpm. I would like to run both (preferably with the OS on the older, smaller one) but I read somewhere once that you can't.

Removing ENUM entries in the registry

videobruce
Device drivers that are uninstalled still leave entries in the registry under ENUM which I believe are Device Manager entries that can't be deleted. If I have a problem with a driver I like to completely uninstall it and start from scratch, but I can't since these entries are permanently entered into the registry w ...

ATI 9700 Pro or ATI FireGL 880?

kublis
Not sure where to post this, but since it will using XP as the operating system, I guess i'll post it here. My brother-in-law will be using mostly photoshop to create pictures/graphical images such as those you see on the billboard or advertisement and I was wondering which of the two would be best for the job.

Hard Disk Data Corruption?

telthenipper
I have a weird problem. I have 4 hard disks connected to my raid controller, but not in raid array. They are: 1x Maxtor 40 gb, 1x Segate 40gb, 1x Maxtor 20gb and 1 x WDC 20gb. The problem that i'm having is that when ever I copy a large file to my F: drive (maxtor 20gb) the data in the file is corrupt.

Power Supply Problem ?

Bane66
Does anyone know of a good guide or calculator for ATX power supplies. Have just built a new DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and I think my PSU is causing me problems. System jams, reboots or corrupts the screen giving message that windows files are corrupted (which they aren't).
