I'm currently on a small network setup with about 6 computers, I think the network browsing is quite slow so I have WINS server on my computer, but it only registers my computer, I'm in my own domain and all the other computers are in a second one.

We just set up a new computer in our house (to go with the other three), and want to connect it to the rest of the network through the concentrator box (network hub). I put jacks on the end of a 20-ish foot long CAT5 cable, and plugged it in on both ends, but both the computer and the hub think that the cable is no ...

Greets- I was wondering I'm having an issue with active directory and DNS. I have it working with third party DNS to the point of the DC announcing that it is the DC. The problem I seem to be running into now is when it begins to sync, a credentials dialog box appears and says Access is denied.

Slow logon to domain
mthaler
Windows 2000 server is set with Active directory in pure (non-mixed) mode. This is a small network with less than 10 users. There is only one 16 port 10/100 switch, not a lot of traffic. When logging on with Windows 2000 Pro SP1, the workstations take a really long time during the Loading Personal Settings part.
Link for AD DNS
clutch
This is a pretty cool link that shows a simplified explanation of DNS implementation in Win2K. I don't know if the link requires membership, but membership is free anyway. Regards, clutch.

Okay what the hell is the difference between a Switch and a router. I need to connect them to share a cable modem connection. One line that runs to my laptop runs great, but the second line seems to not work.
A LAN problem and a odd thing
Dirty Harry
My LAN runs just fine, or so I thought. Today I needed to copy some large files (40-60MB pieces) between the two machines but run into trouble. After a while I get complete standstill, and later a message that the target drive is no longer available on the network.
