Win2k and Novell together

This is a mixed network consisting of novell and NT servers with 98 and a couple 2k workstations (don't ask me why. . . i didnt set it up). Anyway, you need to install the novell client on the 2k box in order to see the novell servers and shares.

Deleted shared directories still trying to be shared?

Hello I have a bunch of shares that were deleted, and the event log is reporting errors for each share that no longer exists. I know I can go into the registry and manually delete the entry for each share, but does anyone know of a quicker way to take care of this?.

Does anyone in the UK use Homechoice (TV-on Demand via ADSL Line) for accessing the internet thru their Lame High-Speed Connection? If so has anyone figured out a way of using the Ethernet port on the Alcatel modem/router instead of connecting via the Set-Top box connecting to a Com Port on your PC?

Is there something in Win2k server that tryes to connect to the internet all the time? The server makes the router connect to the internet once a minute, it also connects when the server boots up. .

Hi ! I'm using the built in pppoe. someone know how i can change the MAXMTU value ? I've look everywhere , can't find it. I tried the location of the win2k mtu , and doesn't work. Well if someone know where winxp hide the mtu value for his built in pppoe , let me know thx !.

Sharing Problem

Hi Guys, I am on RC1 and trying to share my files with another RC1 machine. I have turned off simplified sharing. Now I have given him read access to my whole C drive(No Change Access). I want to give him the access to one folder where he has full control.

I've got an Win2k SP2 box uploading and downloading via SMB sessions to a Linux RedHat 6. 1 RAID array (running Samba) some pretty meaty files, from 30MB to +400MB. The network is on a complete (with zero to moderate traffic at the time of the tests) 100Mbit switch with both machines negotiating a 100/Full connection.

Opinions on GRC.com's view on XP's raw sockets?

I was wondering if any one had an opinion on Steve Gibson's idea that WinXP is gonna bring down the 'Net? I had read this guy's rant before, and thought him a complete crack-pot. But, as I was applying for a job at a friend's firm, he suggested GRC.

Can you detect what is opening a port up?

I always have 3 particular ports opened and listening after I boot my pc up(I verified it through netstat and also a shareware program). Is there a program that will detect what program is listening on those ports? This is using win9x, however I'd also like to know with nt and win2k.

Hello, I have a couple of NT 4. 0 WKS client setup and an NT4 PDC server. The client is login onto the network through a policy I have setup for them. I'm trying to have login script to synchronized the wks with the server so all terminals are showing the same time.

I just got another D-Link DSS-5+ Switch. The exact same one I already have. I now have two and am attempting to connect them together so I can have more people on my network. So far it as been unsucessful.

Win2k Dialup Problems

I was using win me at first and my connection worked fine, but after I installed win2k my connection got really messed up. I would log online and about every 15 minutes I would get kicked offline. There would be no error message or anything like that.

ICS and Applications

Hi Guys, I have two computers with Windows 2000 Pro. One is the server with two NIC and other with a single NIC. I have turned ICS on. The internet, email works fine. But when it comes to MSN Messenger, Netmeeting, Phone Dialer, only the server can receive call but the workstation cannot.
